Where do you possibly see a threat? I thought you were going to play nice.

MikeB4: Holy cow folks let's step back and chill a bit.
I feel like it is a serious issue, Mike. Insinuators keep trying to sneak in a little subtle intolerance by dressing it up in acceptable-sounding labels and making it seem somehow not quite as despicable and dehumanising. Pity the poor native who has seen their neighbourhood change to something unfamiliar, but not a glimmer of understanding for the frightened and lonely stranger in a strange land.
Yes it is serious but one of their techniques is to create discord which they can then blame on the groups they hate. The discord is present in this thread and if it takes hold they win
Here is the thing, Mike: I strongly feel that people like Lauren Southern should not be given a public platform in this country. I am also strongly opposed to racism, discrimination and immigrant-bashing. I express my views strongly, either by directly confronting those who I think are wrong, or sometimes by making fun of them. This usually makes them angry and I often receive hostile responses. The discord is not coming from me. It comes from those who cannot countenance the possibility that I might be right.

Which doesn't answer the question why you are so determined to share this woman's thoughts with the rest of the world. Does she have something on you?

Reciprocity: It’s interesting to watch the most vocal opponents of fascism, extremism and intolerance demonstrate those exact same qualities in their self righteous proclamations that views they don’t approve of must be silenced.
I think we can agree that these speakers certainly bring out the worst in some people.
It's not "views they don't approve". It's views that have been used to support dictators that over the years brought destruction and disruption.
Supporters of such vile views are always quick to ask for free speech because there's the understanding the only way to push these opinions to the forefront is by creating controversy.
The alt-right in American goes around with white-only demonstrations because they see the need to shout how badly whites are being treated and how the whites are discriminated.
This is just a side of the anti-multiculturalism, racism, bigot movement. I am pretty sure that once a fascist government is in place, the first thing to go is the "free speech" they'd have shamelessly used to reach power.

I don't agree that they are, but even if they are full blown neo-nazis who worship Adolf Hitler as a god and want to purge the earth of inferior races, they STILL have a right to say what they want. Just because you find it abhorrent, does not mean they don't have the right to have those views, and publicly express them.
I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. The only thing I can say to that is how sadly mistaken you are.

No they are not. Hate speech is illegal in NZ.

I think some actually approve of the ‘well reasoned, well researched and well put forward’ arguments the fascists speakers are making but they don’t have the courage of their convictions to publicly admit it so they try to dress it up in free speech rhetoric. That is pretty lame.

On the other hand, I think some have been too quick to put the speakers in boxes and slap labels on them. If you disagree with their views, I think pointing out and directly criticising specific things they say and do would be far more effective than the "no-platforming" approach (which in my opinion has given them far more publicity than they otherwise would have received).
