Chris Uhlmann (ABC political journalist) summed it up the best.

And there is no value placed on the meaning of words. So what is said one day can be discarded the next.

What was that about again?

They did discuss that a cyber security unit to address election hacking that both deny actually happened, can't happen?  I suppose there's some logic there somewhere.

If President Putin wanted to put an idiot in charge of the WH, he clearly over-achieved.

kingdragonfly: I wouldn't say that China are not war-mongers; just they are less war-like than the US

They have no problem grabbing land by force, such as building artificial islands in the South China Sea, and their expansive territorial claims.

India is very worried about being out-gunned by the Chinese navy

http://www.firstpost.com/india/as-sikkim-border-issue-rages-china-outguns-indias-naval-abilities-in-indian-ocean-region-1-to-4-3785173.html

And China's aircraft carrier isn't making Hong Kong citizens comfortable

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jul/07/chinese-aircraft-carrier-liaoning-sails-into-hong-kong-show-of-naval-power

Much much less. They have their ideas on what is theirs, so if they want to take their own land that's not war like. They aren't about to fire upon Taiwan, HKG was never an issue, the lease expired, they have it back. They could waltz on in and take Tibet if they wished. As for their military, that's defence. They live a different world than the old West culture. We are too used to wars. IMHO China is over that, from 1970's its been a developing country.

I like this guy's style - on his twitter page self described as "Banned by Putin, fired by Trump".

I do hope he becomes the huge PITA to Trump he has potential to be.

(Edit : post image of tweet rather than embedded tweet - so it's clear what he's responding to)

Re Trump Jr revelation that he sought damaging info from Russia on Clinton

"Trump Jr. tweeted that he was releasing the emails to be "totally transparent," but his release came moments before The New York Times published the emails."

Yeah right, Tui

Oh dear.

"Junior" has tweeted the stack of emails confirming intent to collude with Russian government source, contradicting himself as well as basically everybody else tied up in Trump senior's dirty trick regime.

There's some debate about why he'd incriminate himself (and others) in such a stupid manner. Unless he's batsh!t crazy, then an explanation is possibly that the "fake" media (NYT possibly?) already had the emails - and he knew he couldn't stop their release.

As with every other cluster^*&% disaster from the Trump regime, I expect this latest disaster to have no impact on Trump's POTUS approval rating. A trail of lies, probably treason - well if you're on "Team GOP", then that's okay - because, well, because Hillary.

No no no, Trump Snr said he was being transparent, and being a "quality guy" you would expect that!  :-)

"Five key facts about Donald Trump Jr.’s just-released explosive email exchange
Washington Post
By Greg Sargent

July 11 at 1:00 PM

In two tweets this morning, Donald Trump Jr. flatly confirmed that the son, son-in-law and campaign chairman of the president of the United States actively sought information that had been clearly and unequivocally described to him as coming from the Russian government — precisely because he believed it would damage his opponent in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Trump Jr. tweeted out the entire email chain of an exchange between him and publicist Rob Goldstone, who had sought to arrange a meeting for him with a Russian lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, at the behest of one of Goldstone’s clients, pop star Emin Agalarov. The exchange had previously been reported to show that Trump Jr. had cause to know that at this meeting, he would be given information about Hillary Clinton, the source for which was somehow the Russian government.

The actual email chain confirms this with startling clarity. Trump Jr. apparently released it because the New York Times was preparing to publish the exchange.

...

Some additional points that should not be lost here:

Trump Jr. initially refused to disclose the reason for this meeting
...
Even at that point, Trump Jr. carefully dissembled about what he knew about the Russian lawyer’s identity
...
Trump Jr. eagerly accepted proffered help from a foreign government that was trying to help his father win the U.S. presidential election
...
At a minimum, we now know the Trump campaign was willing to collude with the Russia government
...
Top congressional Republicans were told that Russia was trying to tip the election to Trump and argued against doing something public about it.
..."

Actually, that's not true, based on the currently available evidence. The truth is that

Trump Jr. eagerly checked out whether what was proffered by a foreign government would help his father to win the U.S. presidential election.

It seems (based on what has come to light so far) that Trump Jr found that what was offered wasn't helpful and it wasn't used. So, he didn't actually break the law against foreign collusion in elections. But it is also clear that he was willing to do so. And it's also undeniable that Russia *was* trying to influence the election. So, whilst this particular incident may not be significant in itself, it does underline the need for the Comey/Mueller FBI investigation, and the wrongness of Comey's sacking.

In a rational world there is no way to spin these emails away from the Trump campaigns very eager and fully informed desire to accept info from the Russian government to hurt Clinton's campaign. Whether any usable information came about, or was used is beside the point.

However, as is now abundantly evident, rationality is sorely lacking in Trumpland.

But unless there's evidence that Trump remove Comey because of where the investigations were going there's no way to prove obstruction of justice...

Trump said in an Interview on international television that his decision to fire Comey was at least partly due to the Russian investigation. It doesn't matter where the investigations were going, Trump essentially admitted he fired Comey because he didn't agree with the Russian investigation happening at all. He didn't want the investigation happening, so he fired the guy leading it, that is obstruction.

EDIT: for clarity
