blakamin:

gzt: An American Jewish group which by convention has played a large role in organising the president's annual Jewish holiday conference call has declined to do so this year citing deep concern over Trump's continued 'both sides' views and failure to comprehensively condemn anti-semitism and religious discrimination. The congregation in Charlottesville having armed neonazis standing outside during a service and internet threats didn't see it as a 'both sides' thing either.

Strange considering Netanyahu loves him... to the point of nearly agreeing with nazis.

The world of power and possessions, sometimes of other peoples land, is a powerful thing. And they'll do anything to keep it.

I'm not 100% sure what you are trying to say there. I would not expect any particular person who identifies as Jewish to necessarily agree or disagree with the prime minister of Israel or for that matter any particular policy of past, present or future governments of the state of Israel.

Anyone else see Michael Smerconish on CNN last (NZ) night?

https://www.mediaite.com/online/cnns-smerconish-trumps-pardon-of-arpaio-will-not-be-lost-in-the-storm/

What he said makes sense - Trump isn't the problem, he's a symptom of the divisions in American culture that have been steadily growing for years. And getting rid of Trump won't necessarily fix the situation.

Trump's new poll is A) dumb B) pointless C) laughable D) all of the above

The Republican National Committee is at it again with the absurd Trump polls.

According to a recent email, Trump asked members of the GOP to reach out to some of their "top supporters" for a riveting one-question poll that will provide Donald with some helpful feedback on his time in the White House.

Such diverse choices, President Trump! Thank you! How ever will we choose?

Rikkitic:

What is awful is that a quarter of American voters are said to still enthusiastically support him. There are currently about 200 million American voters.

I think the core racists in USA is about 9%.

There's another 8% or so with "no opinion" - which in my opinion is a very strange position - to be ambivalent to evil - so I'd actually add the "acceptable" and "no opinion" folks together, for a grand total of 18% - plus or minus a significant margin of error.  Whatever - say 15% = 30 million racists in the USA.  I've been there enough - and in almost every state.  I believe that's probably accurate.  F$%$@#ing sad state of affairs.  Some bad news is that I don't believe NZ is much better - all that's needed is a "beacon of hate" to bring worms to the surface. One of the reasons i hate Trump.

The Borowitz Report - Trump Says Sun Equally to Blame for Blocking Moon

WASHINGTON   (The Borowitz Report)   Attacking the media for its “very unfair” coverage of Monday’s solar eclipse, Donald J. Trump said on Saturday that the sun was equally to blame for blocking the moon.

“The fake news is covering the eclipse from the sun’s side instead of the moon’s side, but if you look at it from the moon’s side the sun is blocking the moon’s side,” he said. “There are so many sides you can’t count all the sides.”

Additionally, Trump tore into the sun itself, calling it a “showboat” for its role in the solar eclipse.

“The sun thinks the world revolves around it,” Trump said. “Sad.”

Surely that isn't true? I guess it must be. My god. Maybe the mental j=health claims have merit, unless he didn't finish school

Borowitz is a comedian. The Borowitz Reporter is a joke column. He's taken Trump's "all sides" comments related to the Charlestown unrests and applied to the solar eclipse as a joke.

Thanks MF. While it was extremely bizarre, I could not discount it either, given Trumps general commentary

Inside US President Donald Trump's vice grip on a fearful Republican Party

Well damn, they nominated this monster as their presidential candidate. WTF did they expect?

They expected (Trump) to lose. Expressing otherwise in light of opinion polls at the time of the RNC nominations would have been an extreme fringe view.

I have to say, watching news about America these days is like watching a burning clown car collide with a pile of dynamite under the bleachers in slow motion. Fascinating, hilarious, and scary all at the same time.

Yep. I keep waiting for sanity to prevail, but the partisanship in politics runs pretty deep there.

Trump administration prepares to lift limits on providing surplus military equipment to local police. Where they already seem to be at war against minorities and have no problems shooting first, asking questions later.

Good scope there.
