I think Winston will want a major part in Government as its probably his last term. He could make a deal for supply and sit on the cross benched and be a pain...but I think he will want status and power for what could be his last 3 years.

So he will go with whoever offers him the most status eh Deputy dog and senior minister within Cabinet plus a few special gems like referendum on Maori seats.

Easily offered by both sides. It's like going to dealer A and saying dealer B is offering me this, and both dealers have no choice but to match, so at the end of the day, I don't see either party to have any control, it's Winston's decision thanks to those who voted for him.

Unless of course National jump in bed with Greens. But someone said Greens are not interested to be in government.

Then he would just have to take what Labour offers or nothing. That would be interesting.

If neither can form a coalition National or Labour could convince the Governor General that they can run the country as a minority government. It would be a nightmare and a recipe for a very early general election.

Labour deputy leader Kelvin Davis says he's willing to step aside to allow Winston Peters to have the position of deputy Prime Minister, if needed.

So far 1 all.

Winnie is installed as Deputy PM.

Why would they not? The anti Peters brigade seems to think of him as the devil. Silly. Its JUST an election and JUST a negotiation. Its democratic as the majority choice will rule.

Agree. The rash comments about Peters, Greens, and so on is a bit silly, its more a sore loser issue than a sensibility issue. Whatever your poison, most MP's want to do good. The drive from A to B just happens to differ. No one will break anything. If they scratch the glass they will be replaced in 3 years. Not dissimilar to Darwins claims.

Imagine a 35 year old ex fish and chip shop worker trying to bargain with a top lawyer and ex DPM ... hmm ...

And if she did talk it could end in tears.

Here's an interesting article comparing the German election with ours. Both run on the same MMP model but with different outcomes.

One of the suggestions - a Labour/National coalition telling Winston to poke it - would be an interesting development in NZ.

That's rather an ill advised comment which will probably make any previous comments of yours, null and void. Deal with the issues There has been enough of stupid comments like yours made by many on both sides

which show lack of debating skills. I wonder how you can form an honest opinion about what's best for the country with an attitude like you have just displayed
