The US approach to this summit is going to be formulated with a primary objective of improving the GOP chances of retaining as many seats as possible in the upcoming mid-term elections - not even a remote chance it'll be about doing the right thing - for the future of the NK people, the SK people, or the rest of the world.  It's about convincing as many possible of the ~60% of the US public who think the POTUS is an idiot, that perhaps he's "getting things done".

 

The summit will either completely fail and be blamed on NK, or Trump will offer "possible" future concessions to KJU that he has no intention to carry through with, buying time and to create the impression that the great negotiator is making great progress, with future talks to be concluded after the mid terms.

 

IMO the first is likely to annoy China and Russia, they'll decide to ease sanctions against NK claiming that KJU was playing fair by whatever concessions he will offer.  China wants the trade, doesn't want a US force remaining in SK.  Russia want an oil/gas pipeline, to supply both NK and SK.  I assume that the WH know this - so IMO the second possibility is more likely - dragging it out as long as possible with ongoing false claims of "great progress" and keeping King Donald the Great Deal Maker on the front page for this issue as long as possible.

 

 

You may well be right about these scenarios however the ego of Trump should not be underestimated. He'd love to come up with a deal that no other president has managed to do. For him that would be better than scoring two eagles in a round of golf.

I gather that the operation she had was a relatively standard treatment (arterial embolisation) which blocks blood supply to part of a kidney which have (usually benign) tumours.

Less invasive and hazardous than surgical removal, probably pretty painful for a few days at least.  The physical side effects should be long over - psychological effects possibly not.

Google "renal angiomyolipoma" to find out more about what she's probably been treated for.

Presuming that all was good with that treatment, I'd expect that Drs would have also checked for associated conditions which don't have good prognosis, hopefully all of that was fine and no problems, but it's going to be a traumatic reminder of your own mortality and I'd expect somewhat life-changing - especially given the extremely unusual situation that she's in - which wasn't really an expected part of the deal she signed up to - and remember she's still got a young and only child to look after.
