CNBC - Trump told Gary Cohn to 'print money' to lower the national debt, according to Bob Woodward's book

As a candidate, Donald Trump pledged to balance the federal budget and lower the national debt, promises that are proving difficult to keep.

Once he won, Trump considered an unusual approach that was quickly slapped down by his chief economic advisor, according to veteran journalist Bob Woodward's new book, "Fear: Trump in the White House," which went on sale Tuesday.

"Just run the presses - print money," Trump said, according to Woodward, during a discussion on the national debt with Gary Cohn, former director of the White House National Economic Council.

"You don't get to do it that way," Cohn said, according to Woodward. "We have huge deficits and they matter. The government doesn't keep a balance sheet like that."

Cohn was "astounded at Trump's lack of basic understanding," Woodward writes. ...

The president also floated an idea for making money from the recent rise in interest rates, according to Woodward.

"We should just go borrow a lot of money, hold it, and then sell it to make money," Trump reportedly said. ...

Fake facts!

President Donald Trump on Tuesday claimed his administration’s response to Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico last year was an “unsung success” and “incredibly successful,” despite the fact thousands of people died in the wake of the storm.

I got the same response, while on a VPN to Melbourne.

Worked OK with VPN turned off - worth watching.

Youtube video worked for me in New Zealand, directly and through GeekZone.

There are ways around this message, but I shouldn't list them here. If you Google the message, you'll get plenty of information

NBC News - Booming sales for Woodward's 'Fear,' Trump presidency book

"Fear" seems likely to join Michael Wolff's "Fire and Fury" as a million-selling takedown of Trump.

Woodward's account of a dysfunctional Trump White House has already sold more than 750,000 copies, Simon & Schuster announced Wednesday, the day after the book arrived in stores.

Donald Trump rejects Hurricane Maria death toll in Puerto Rico

DONALD Trump has sparked controversy with his new theory about how many people died in the Hurricane Maria disaster.

US PRESIDENT Donald Trump has rejected the widely accepted conclusion that nearly 3,000 died in Puerto Rico from Hurricane Maria, arguing without evidence that the number was wrong and calling it a plot by Democrats to make him look bad.

“This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico.”

Puerto Rico’s governor last month raised the US territory’s official death toll from Hurricane Maria from 64 to 2975 after an independent study found that the number of people who succumbed in the sweltering aftermath had been severely undercounted.

EDIT - Backlash Erupts

CNN - Donald Trump's absolutely mind-boggling assault on facts is actually picking up steam

This anecdote from the Washington Post writeup is absolutely staggering:

"On Sept. 7, President Trump woke up in Billings, Mont., flew to Fargo, N.D., visited Sioux Falls, S.D., and eventually returned to Washington.
He spoke to reporters on Air Force One, held a pair of fundraisers and was interviewed by three local reporters.

In that single day, he publicly made 125 false or misleading statements - in a period of time that totaled only about 120 minutes.

It was a new single-day high."

From Sept. 4 to Sept. 13, Trump averaged 32 false of misleading claims a day. undecided

Trump is pictured as Pinocchio in a cartoon by a Thai artist. Birds representing the Twitter logo are seen fluttering along his nose. One of them is holding a bomb, seemingly referring to his frequent social media outbursts

At this point the only thing he can do to stoop lower is to actually shoot someone on 5th Avenue...

Former Construction Executive Claims President Trump Ordered Braille Removed from Trump Tower Elevators

Barbara Res, a former Trump Organization executive who oversaw the construction of Trump Tower in Manhattan, has claimed that in the early 1980s future president Donald Trump ordered an architect on the project to remove Braille from planned elevator panels in the building, saying ...

"On this particular day, the architect had come to Donald Trump’s office to show him what the interior of the residential elevator cabs would look like. Trump looked at the panels where the buttons you push to reach a floor were located. He noticed that next to each number were some little dots.

'What’s this?' Trump asked. 'Braille,' the architect replied. Trump told the architect to take it off, get rid of it. 'We can’t,' the architect said, 'It’s the law.'

'Get rid of the (expletive) Braille. No blind people are going to live in Trump Tower. Just do it,' Trump yelled back, calling him weak.
...
The Braille conversation was presented by Res an example of what she characterized as Trump’s habit of issuing 'ridiculous orders' which would be ignored by his employees, a trend which she perceives as continuing in the White House."
