If the Nats cant reach agreement with Winston, then Winston is in a poor position where he would basically have to accept whatever Jacinda was offering, or not be in Govt at all. Be fun to watch.

Somehow, I doubt Jacinda will be talking.

Imagine a 35 year old ex fish and chip shop worker trying to bargain with a top lawyer and ex DPM ... hmm ...

And if she did talk it could end in tears.

That's rather an ill advised comment which will probably make any previous comments of yours, null and void. Deal with the issues There has been enough of stupid comments like yours made by many on both sides

which show lack of debating skills. I wonder how you can form an honest opinion about what's best for the country with an attitude like you have just displayed

My apologies for causing offense.

Let me rephrase.

Jacinda says she's not taking, rather her negotiation party headed by her will have Davis doing the talking.

FYI

You would not put Steven Joyce in the position to negotiate with Winston, as they hate each other

Adern has no history, so that means no bad history but no good history, they met once on a PNG trip

Davis and Peters are close, Peters supported him in the election that Davis won. very close relationship. Makes sense, as would David Parker and Andrew Little. Clearly JA will talk and get to know Winston, but arm Labour with allies for the discussions. Its not just about the deal, its also about getting along

Well if Davis does a good job with Winston, he will be out of a job. Just saying....

And he knows that, no issue obviously. Winston will be Deputy PM of National or Labour, so that's a done deal. Now, wait till Oct 12 and we will know, although I assume discussions will be held well before that, and we may see some hints

Already explained why that is, and why that makes sense

Which might be whyWinston is waiting for the other votes to be finalised. Which means to me he is seriously considering going with Labour + Greens

Fixed that for you. Labour + NZFirst is not enough for a government. They need the Greens.

And as I said, the fact that Winston right off the bat declares he's not deciding until the special votes are in signals he's siding Labour.

Greens are irrelevant. They are with Labour. The only person deciding is Winston. There are only two options - Labour or National. Greens are not part of the calculation. Unless they don't want to govern as someone said, but then I'm not sure why they would exist.

Or Winston is just being Winston.

In 1996 it took 10 weeks for him to decide, he even went fishing and the country had to wait for him. There is no reason to believe he is siding with anybody.

Dont think thats why. If Labour have a 1 seat majority or 3, that changes the negotiation. Potentially could lose a seat, unlikely but could happen

IMHO I feel he is siding with Labour, there are more pluses that way, and less minuses

Its already been stated by him that Oct 12 is the day, and why, no more conspiracy theories please. Germany had MMP election same day, they expect by Christmas. There is no drama going on

The irony... Winston makes Joyce wait while he takes his time...

Ah I didn't realise he announced that in July. I thought he announced it after knowing the preliminary results. That means my hypothesis is null and void.

July? As everyone knows he announced 12 Oct after the results came in. Counting for the last 15% is by 7 Oct, writs due 12th, so as the seats will probably change, he leaves it till the last day to advise. Nothing special.

That's what I thought.

But it turns out https://www.newsroom.co.nz/2017/07/24/39728/winston-reveals-d-day-for-coalition-announcement

By the way, I have no idea why reading him as siding Labour is a conspiracy. I think you need to look at the definition of a conspiracy.
