I hope some of you who have made snide comments as well hang your heads in shame.

Oh Brother! Give me a break. I'm not one who makes comments about the appearance of JA, but if she can't cope with that, she isn't going to cope with the rigors of being leader of an entire country.

Wait till people start paying attention to her policies. I am concerned about her lack of real world experience, and lack of leadership experience in general, and of course there are all those horrible policies.

Plenty to pick at without worrying about how she looks :)

I see Friday they are going to focus on rich people who "buy" citizenship. You'd think they would have bigger things to worry about, like the fact they promised to build *30* houses a day, every single day for the next 10 years, which of course they have NO chance of doing, yet no-one seemed to pay attention to that particularly outrageous promise.

I can't wait for Labour to release it's "costed" coalition deal budgets. If they do, which I am guessing they won't.

Firstly Jacinda needs to look like a PM...

Secondly she needs to act like a PM...

Sure she is a learner, but the only people around her to help her also want her job. She has the top job so needs to do a top job or be replaced...its simple...and Labour is good at replacing leaders.

I dont see why the media or Geekzone should "go easy" on her....its all her choice....sink or swim Jacinda and lets see the tax rises that are needed for you hands on policies.

They have also decided to interfere in the Wellington Trolly Bus demise.....kind of strange when these were going to be replaced with EV busses over the next few years. IMO Tywford is a total idiot....he is now on a power trip. He will also want to ban anyone with a chinese looking name from owning a house.

it's a slow phase in of the EVs if it was ever going to happen. In the interim more poison belching diesels are going on the road. the move to retain the trolly buses is a good move.

Well, you are most welcome to stop by in 6 months and find if the conversation is more to your liking. There are a number of us here who have a fair bit to lose under Labour, and whilst it's nice for you that you don't, as you already have stated, that shouldn't prevent people from taking the new Government to task over what is likely to be a miserable few years for some.

You could be looking at 3 terms .... hope you can find something to be cheery about for the next wee while.

BTW, how is it over at whaleoil these days? ;-)

I think you are a bit excited cos you're not thinking straight.

Your statement about labour being good at changing its leaders is unclear. Are you suggesting labour changes its leader too often/badly/ at unsuitable times? You would have to admit the most recent leader change has worked out well for them.

Surely you are not taking a pot shot at labour because they changed leaders while in opposition? Do you remember the 'walking of the plank'  y brash and all the leadership tussles with national before key became leader? Changing leaders is pretty common when in opposition.

I wouldn't worry about changes in leadership during the upcoming terms. If you look at all the governments under mmp, there has only been one party which has changed leaders while in government (hint , it isn't labour).

Its all conjecture. Its hard to take them to task when they havent done any tasks yet, and said tasks havent generated any stats.

I have posted this before, but witnessing borderline panic I feel it is appropriate to repost it

Given the housing crisis was National's fault (despite prices rising hugely under the previous Labour govt and them doing SFA about it) it seems only fair to hold them to account for things on day one.

And they are already about 250 houses behind their Kiwibuild targets.

And after years of insisting making kids get be enrolled in preschool was 'beneficiary bashing' they're now caving to NZ First's 'Work for the Dole' scheme.

Words fail me.

In that case they have failed all policies as at day one, as will any other Govt on day one. There is a 100 day plan, that is worth discussing once it happens or is halfway through. I haven't seen any NZF bashing Greens and vice versa yet, so that's failed too. It just seems a bashing campaign, like the Trump thread.

I'm in two minds. I disagree with a lot of Labour's thinking but at the end of the day I can keep on trucking under a labour or national lead government.

I have some admiration for JA as person and would like her to succeed (it's not in anyone's interests for things to go badly).

On the other hand I would like to see Labour turfed out at the next election so the party I agree with more can get back in.

Realistically I don't think labour will be able to deliver on many of their promises this term and the 2020 election will be a dilemma for them ... will they prune back policies or increase taxes?

I agree. There is lots to fix, but at least they will give it a go, by doing something, rather than letting market forces manage these issues. I feel they will make progress, but will fall short. If they were smart they would admit well before next election that they will fall short but real progress has been made (if it has been).

Its a risk. But doing nothing or little is why we are here and they got in
