Rikkitic: All of this (see above) is well and good, but does any of this kind of information, including the many other examples here and elsewhere of Trump's lies and duplicity, ever make it into the propaganda bubble that Trump supporters live in? Preaching to the converted can be satisfying, but how do you get real information to the genuinely ignorant, and how do you make them listen? I'm not talking about changing their minds on anything, but just making them aware that the information exists. I truly believe at least some of these people would start to wonder about Trump's claims if they were exposed to the many repeated instances of his blatant deceptions. Maybe not after just one or two, but dozens or hundreds would certainly have an impact. Some people may truly be stupid, or evil, but most are prepared to give fair consideration to unfamiliar ideas if they are made aware of them.

You're absolutely right, of course.

Personally, because there's little that I can do about America's disease, I'd rather do something that helps a few people take their minds off a situation they might otherwise weep over.

And dyed-in-the-wool Trump supporters? No way would they ever deviate from their chosen thought-path. It's just not worth the effort. Human belief-systems are weird.

There's only one thing that I regret about the efforts of we GZ diehards to ludicrize (if there wasn't such a word, there is now, 'cos I need it) America's Fake President, and that's because, as you say, his pathletic supporters will never get to see how universally despised is the creature they believe to be a deity.

Humour does help ease the pain. Your last Borowitz Report was particularly good.

Thanks. And I applaud your decision to modify your avatar. I need a new one that appropriately reflects my attitude towards the Creature from the White Lago-oon but I haven't so far found anything that's disgusting enough.

Yeah, I saw that one too, but even I have limits. After all, I vowed to keep the avatar as long as Trump continues to defile the White House with his presence.

In a lot of ways there is too much information of why Trump is bad. To his supporters it just looks like people are making things up, or blowing up things to make him look bad. Compare how the Republicans attack someone, they stick to one thing and hammer and hammer at it. For John Kerry it was his Vietnam record. Elizabeth Warren it is her claim of Native American ancestry. The Constant labelling of Hillary Clinton as Crooked Hillary. They keep it simple and stick to it. For Trump there is so much evidence of wrongdoing it is hard to focus on one like that. Then his supporters tune it out and say to the democrats "Make up your mind, is he a tax cheat, or a racist, or an adulterer?" Then none of it sticks.

Today's lesson: "I am the least racist person in the world.”

It is of course entirely coincidental that Don Lemon is a man of color.

EDIT   For once, Trump was right about CNN's ratings ...

The Washington Post - Biden performed better in the second debate. CNN didn’t.

July 31 at 11:26 PM

at the conclusion of a long opinion piece ...

Unfortunately, CNN seemed to learn nothing from its horrendous reviews for Tuesday night.

The same time-wasting, overproduced 25 minutes of blather at the onset, the same rigid enforcement of time constraints on candidates, the same lack of attention to foreign policy and the same crudely provocative style of questions reinforced the conclusion that not only CNN but also all of the broadcast news outlets and the DNC need to rethink the format of these events.

They are too long, too disjointed and too focused on creating made-for-TV conflict.

After a serious drop in ratings on Tuesday from the first round of debates, perhaps they will abandon these counterproductive affairs.

Will the Democrats shoot themselves in the foot ... again ?  😕

During the last presidential debates, one question was what the first thing was the candidates would do  if elected. Kirsten Gillibrand's response: She would clean the White House with Chlorox (a bleach-like disinfectant). Not a bad one-liner.

The Washington Post - ‘How the hell is this not inciting violence?’ Gun store erects billboard with minority lawmakers’ faces

July 31 at 10:39 PM

The sign warns of the “4 Horsemen” - typically a reference to biblical imagery symbolizing the end of the earth: conquest, war, famine and death.

But the North Carolina billboard that went up over the weekend does not depict horsemen.

It shows photos of the freshman congresswomen also known as “the Squad”: Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

The billboard calls the progressive Democratic members of Congress “idiots” and is signed by “the Deplorables.”

Cherokee Guns, a Murphy, N.C., gun shop about a mile away from the sign, took responsibility for the billboard. ...
