The New York Times - Military Officials Say Tell-All About al-Baghdadi Raid Team Unlikely

Oct. 28, 2019

WASHINGTON — There is unlikely to be a tell-all book or movie based on firsthand accounts of the Delta Force commandos who assaulted the compound of the Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and chased him into a dead-end tunnel, prompting him to blow himself up, military officials say. ...

In fact, most of the details about the commandos came not from the military, but from their commander in chief, President Trump.

“We were getting full reports on literally a minute-by-minute basis,” Mr. Trump said during the same new conference in which he disclosed other usually classified operational details, including how many helicopters (8) were involved. “

Sir, we just broke in,’” Mr. Trump recalled. “‘Sir, the wall is down. Sir, you know, we’ve captured. Sir, two people are coming out right now. Hands up.’” ...

There is a suspiciously large number of "Sir"s in Trump's version of events.

When Trump uses "Sir" in an alleged quote, it is usually bogus.

The Washington Post - Baghdadi’s death could have been Trump’s finest hour. He messed it up anyway.

Oct. 29, 2019

President Trump has a preternatural ability to turn any occasion, no matter how solemn or important, into a ridiculous, risible spectacle.

He did it again Sunday in announcing the death of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

When he began to ad-lib about what happened near Idlib, Syria, he treated the world to his usual blend of braggadocio and bluster - dishonest and distasteful in equal measure.

He insulted Democratic leaders by claiming they would have leaked word of the raid in advance, even though he is the one with a history of leaking classified information.

Ironically, he did it again Sunday by divulging operational details of the raid that horrified national security professionals.

A president who has never heard a shot fired in anger reveled in Baghdadi’s last moments, even claiming “he died like a coward … whimpering and crying and screaming all the way.”

Trump could not possibly have heard “whimpering and crying” on the overhead imagery because there was no audio, and Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper and Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, pointedly refused to confirm those details. ...

Luckily this watch uses poisoned needle for a lethal injection, and removes a dick from the gene pool. Not really, but wishful thinking.

I'm guessing the next in line for the manufacture is O.J. Simpson & Harvey Weinstein.

The New York Times - White House Ukraine Expert Sought to Correct Transcript of Trump Call

Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman, who heard President Trump’s July phone call with Ukraine’s president and was alarmed, testified that he tried and failed to add key details to the rough transcript.

Oct. 29, 2019

WASHINGTON — Lt. Col. Alexander S. Vindman, the top Ukraine expert on the National Security Council, told House impeachment investigators on Tuesday that the White House transcript of a July call between President Trump and Ukraine’s president omitted crucial words and phrases, and that his attempts to include them failed, according to three people familiar with the testimony.

The omissions, Colonel Vindman said, included Mr. Trump’s assertion that there were recordings of former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. discussing Ukraine corruption, and an explicit mention by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, of Burisma Holdings, the energy company whose board employed Mr. Biden’s son Hunter. ...

He's repeating himself, as he often does when he gets nervous and lying. He previously touted it was 94% approval.

At best it was 85%, but even that figure is the most optimistic figure possible. When Republicans are asked about any specifics policies, the figure drops to 43-45%

today

  • Impeachment investigators summon John Bolton to appear next week.
  • In both House and Senate hearings, witnesses say the White House had a shadow foreign policy related to Ukraine.

Fox News’ Ingraham Defends Questioning Lt Col Vindman’s Patriotism: ‘Service Does Not Insulate Him From Criticism’

Vindman testified in the impeachment probe on Tuesday

The Wrap, by Lindsey Ellefson

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham responded Tuesday night to condemnation she received for a segment on her Monday show that questioned the patriotism and loyalty of National Security Council member, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, who was set to testify in the impeachment probe.

Democrats “think they finally found their star witness: Army vet Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a Purple Heart recipient and a White House NSC staffer,” she said. “While we of course salute Vindman’s service to this country, that service does not insulate him or any member of the armed services from criticism or scrutiny, especially when they’re still on active duty.”

...On Tuesday, Vindman, who is a Ukrainian-born refugee, testified about the phone call between President Trump and the Ukrainian president that started the entire impeachment probe.

On Monday’s “The Ingraham Angle,” guest John Yoo suggested involvement in “espionage” in a discussion of the official and his then-impending testimony. No one on Monday’s Fox News program offered any proof of “espionage.”

Trump's referring to it as a transcript of a "great call". It's not a transcript, it's a short summary of a long call. Apparently it's even got a footnote stating "this is not a transcript".

IMO Trump's greatest self-created problem in this "stupid Watergate" saga is that he's fired staffers who gave him good advice – or they quit rather than going along with it and risk being locked up when the crooked empire collapses.

Now he's left with toadying sycophants too scared to advise him to not attend sport matches where he'll be booed and mocked.

Novel defense: Trump too inept to execute quid pro quo, to which Trump replied "am not!"

White House Intentionally Left Words Out Of The Trump-Ukraine Transcript

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Congressional testimony from Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman directly contradicted President Trump's claim that he released a word-for-word transcript of his "perfect" call with Ukraine's leader.

Some are saying Trump's best option is to apologize. However even when he apologized for the Access Hollywood "grab 'em by the p*ssy" remark, he quickly pivoted to Clinton.

He also privately stated he wasn't sure it was his voice. Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee would never say if anyone in the White House would confirm the tape's authenticity.

So, yeah, I don't expect a sincere apology from Trump, and suspect he's too small-minded to go from "a perfect conversation" and "the transcript was perfect, word for word" to an apology.
