Even a stopped clock is correct two times a day.

Is Trump accidently on the correct side by supporting 35-year-old opposition leader Juan Guaidó?

What is Venezuela going to be like in 10 years?

Why Are People In Venezuela Starving (Hyperinflation Explained)?

Venezuela’s economic crisis has made headlines all over the world for the past few years. Hunger is widespread there.

Unable to afford the small amount of food available in supermarkets, many Venezuelans have resorted to eating garbage to survive.

Even zoo animals in Venezuela are starving according to a report by the Daily Mail, and people have been breaking into zoos to eat them.

A recent survey found that the “food crisis has also created an education crisis, as more than 1 million children no longer attend school, mostly due to hunger and a lack of public services.”

Moises Rendon and Mark L. Schneider of the Center for Strategic & International Studies provide a bleak assessment of Venezuela’s current situation, saying the country is suffering “an unprecedented man-made humanitarian crisis.”

Wasnt only the USA who support the opposition leader....UK have as well.

IMO they have been in crisis for many years, not just this year. 10 % of their population have already fled.

This situation needs a military response to remove the dictator and restore democracy.

Imo this is a typical kind of problem you have with presidential systems. USA system has similar problems.

This is a constitutional conflict.

USA and other nations deciding to recognise a person as President of Venezuela who did not stand for the office makes no sense at all. Might as well ask for military intervention in USA to stop the government shutdown.

Headline today on the Guardian "Venezuelans cry out for change – but they dread foreign intervention".

Yet, the Venezuelans are the one to blame for this sorry mess. If they had not voted for Hugo Chavez they wouldn't have put in power a regime like that.

Hugo Chavez was a populist military who tried a coup d'etat in early 90s, was sent to prison and yet when out a few years later was voted in by the masses. He consolidated power, stole billions and put Maduro in power.

People vote for the populist candidate, get what they asked for.

https://edition.cnn.com/2019/01/26/uk/venezuela-maduro-bank-of-england-gold-withdrawal-gbr-intl/index.html

Bank of England blocks Maduro's $1.2B gold withdrawal

The Bank of England has blocked Nicolas Maduro's officials from withdrawing $1.2 billion worth of gold, Bloomberg reported, dealing a further blow to the embattled Venezuelan President as he tries to salvage his authority.

According to the report, which cites unnamed people familiar with the matter, the gold is a significant part of the $8 billion in foreign reserves held by the Venezuelan central bank.

CNN has not been able to independently verify the report and is attempting to get a response from Maduro's officials.

The move by the Bank of England came after top U.S. officials urged the British government to help cut off Maduro's access to his country's assets, the report said, and instead steer them towards opposition leader Juan Guaido, who has claimed the presidency.
