Simon Bridges is calling for the project to be reinstated, so can we expect mass surveillance now?

and when the project was first being looked at 2013:

I knew someone would try to take advantage of the situation to push insidious crap like this.

I can't imagine it was ever cancelled.  Expect it to be ramped up now.  The terrorist only hated us for our freedom, which we no longer have.

Seems an odd thing for him to bring up, wonder who put him up to it?

Simon is simply a "Not Jacinda", that is all he has to offer.

I expect him to be rolled after the next election when he looses. Thats why Collins et-al have done nothing to roll him now, the know the next election is a loss and don't want to be seen leading a loss.

How did that logic work out about this time in 2017?

New Zealand is not a surveillance state - and that's been a very clear directive, I think, from members of the public," Ms Ardern said

Interesting Read, Sounds like Simon Bridges doesn't understand stuff, from what the security consultant said at end of article.

In his defence he doesn't seem to say he thinks it would have stopped anything, just that the risk environment has changed and it might be worth reconsidering.

I'm still totally miffed as to why he'd bring it up though.
