My contract is expiring with Trustpower( power & broadband) and they are not giving me a good deal after that, so time to change.

I am torn between Orcon and Voyager and would like some feedback form you guys. Looking for UFB 100/20, unlimited with voice.

I am in Wellington, Lower Hutt.

So any one in this region has any recommendations? I use lots of youtube, online streaming of sports and other channels :P. Downloads mostly consists of compressed files from over seas sites. My trustpower speedtest has always been consistent giving me between 89-95 mbps on a 100/20 Fibre speed. I have no complaints against their service, it was pretty good, but as i said, time to change.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

When you say they are not giving you a good deal by any chance did you take the Free TV offer?

i think that is for new customers only. Also i already have all the appliances they offer, so don't need any

Voyager + Flick Electric for electricity. Sure there are some pricing spikes but overall they're one of the cheapest if you calculate your power use over a longer period (eg - a year).

Purchase a cheap HG659 from Trademe for use with Voyager and follow their setup guides. They've got one for Internet and another for Phone.

I've been using Voyager for a short while now (very short) but overall have been quite pleased with them so far.

Out of the options given - Voyager, because they use PPPOE instead of DHCP.

Just note that both of the above use the router to provide VOIP instead of the ONT like what Trustpower uses. Which may or may not be a problem for you.

The rest of isp are expensive with voip so left with these two. For router is the hg659 good..espevially wifi reception. Any better alternative with voip support that will work with voyager

It seems to be the most used router out there and most ISPs seem to supply it.

It seems to be the most used router out there and most ISPs seem to supply it.

They use them because they are as cheap as chips

Hi guys last question to satisfy my curosity .

The HG659 modems soldvon trademe.. Vodafone and spark branded. Spark is HG659b. Are both compatible with voyager. Also do Vodafone and spark lock them down, if so how to unlock ?? Thanks

bit confused, doesn't tell me if vodafone and spark ones are locked or not, and if i buy a seconds of one of those , will it work on voyager. i know u can bring your own modem as long as it has vlang tag and voip support. But if i can buy a cheap vodafone or spark one, that would be great. but not sure if they are locked or not
