hi,

i have a Denon AVR-1912 with 2 PSB T6 floor speakers and recently added a PSB Image C5 speaker, used Auto config to setup and it detects and beeps all good however now I am not sure if i missed something as issue i have is below

  • Centre Speaker gives output on FM stereo Music etc
  • No output when TV output is fed through ARC HDMI, changing AAC 2.0 to Dolby 5.1 on TV broadcase doesn't help- is it because TV channels do not have multichannel transmission?
  • No output on movie played through youtube, which i again guess is not in multichannel?

I am bit confused on how useful centre channel speaker is or is it only useful playing movie in 5.1 channel through DVD player?

will appreciate any help as i am bit of novice to Hometheatre.. never had enough money for it untill now.

A centre channel is only useful for 5.1 or greater audio.

Normal 2 ch stereo feeds won't use a centre speaker unless you've enabled a sound mode that upmixes 2 ch to 5.1 or greater.

Freeview|HD broadcasts are fulltime 5.1 on channels with AC3 but you'll only get audio from the centre speaker in shows that are 5.1 - 2 ch stereo content will only use the FR and FL speakers wihin the 5.1 wrapper.

Thanks , this helps in understanding more, I tried to find upmixing mode from 2-5.1 channel on my AMP but no success so far, my main issue is that I have smart TV with freeview and watch channels in digital but have never experienced Centre channel firing since install, TV Audio broadcast option only gives me 2 options HE-AAC 2 or Dolby 5.1 under both options it is still silent, Only with FM radio on AMP it is clearly firing full time.

Centre will fire full on if set to dolby 5.1 cinema as it redirects speech to the centre. It doesnt know your fm is not playing speech.

Set it either to 5 channel stereo or 5.1 dolby music. When set to music it redictects things to the sides.
