They were great TVs their choice to use Fire TV as the UI was a backward step.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
I love my 65" HZ1000 and I hope to get a great many more years use out of it. Personally I think their pivot to FireTV for high end sets was a wrong move for NZ, but I'm also unimpressed with the latest Android TV UI.
Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
Surprised they stuck in so long after pulling out of Oz,
But a little surprised as they returned to the US marker in 2024 after 10 years absence.
I got a copy of the official letter too.
Fire sales on remaining stock ?
The new Z95B is a great TV

I wonder how you will get on for a long term warranty on these TVs if you buy one at at fire sale??

They will likely honour until parts are all used.

Sony and Panasonic are my electronics go to brands. Their TVs just seem to last and last from my experience. Got an LCD tv that is 30 years old now
That is a great shame. I had a Panasonic TV way back when buying my first TV in the 1980’s, and now have a 2024 OLED that I’m very happy with.
Bit nervous to be honest as I actually brought an OLED in 2023, and that set actually faulted after 7 months. I must say Panasonic NZ were fabulous. I was told they don’t ‘fix’ they ‘replace’ and within a fortnight had the set I have today.
Not sure how this will be navigated in the future for those existing customers who have similar problems.
Anyway, I’m hopeful the first OLED was just one of those bad-luck scenarios that do happen, and that the replacement last as long as the Sony LCD set I had until 2023.

Sad to hear. I was a big fan of their Plasmas. "Upgraded" to one of their upper 4K LEDs when plasma ceased. Didnt quite hit the spot so in 2017 i jumped on the OLED bandwagon with an LG C7. I still have that C7 and its still working perfectly. Still have a soft spot for the Panny TVs especially when they went OLED. I still remember having one of their 47" widescreen rear pro TVs in the late 90s/early 2000s. A mate had one of their 33" GAOO TVs in the 90s.
Sony 77" A80J OLED, Panasonic UB820, Panasonic BD-T460, Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen, Samsung Q990D Soundbar
JB Hifi, Noel Leeming and Harvey Norman have all removed Panasonic TV's from their online sites
Panasonic 65GZ1000, Onkyo RZ730, Atmos 5.1.2, AppleTV 4K, Nest Mini's, PS5, PS3, MacbookPro, iPad Pro, Apple watch SE2, iPhone 15+
Once a powerhouse of innovation and reliability, Panasonic slowly lost its way through unclear strategy, missed trends, and a gradual erosion of relevance in the TV space.
This exit simply confirms what many had already suspected: the brand lost the plot long before it lost the market.
That's sad. We bought the following in 2014 when we returned home from Sydney:
Panasonic TV Viera TH-L50E6Z (1080p), Panasonic Blu-ray PVR DMR-BWT835.
Both have served us well and are still going strong.
Are they also pulling out of the PVR market as well ??
Who else makes Smart Network 1TB PVR's with Twin HD Tuner's ??
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

As the PR above its only consumer televisions
Panasonic 65GZ1000, Onkyo RZ730, Atmos 5.1.2, AppleTV 4K, Nest Mini's, PS5, PS3, MacbookPro, iPad Pro, Apple watch SE2, iPhone 15+
It seems a bit weird that they would drop TVs but continue with PVRs, especially considering that the latter are a dead end product category.

I hope Sony remains here.
This didn't age well lol. Sony are selling their TV business to TCL.

Technically its a 51/49 merger,
But apparently the Sony badge name will remain, presumably the TCL badge will slot somewhere lower in the Value chain, and they will combine the back offices and manufacturing?... or maybe TCL will vanish as a badge?
"The new company's products are expected to carry the globally recognized "Sony" name and "BRAVIA™" name, aiming to create new customer value through these branded products such as TVs and home audio equipment."
