ARIKIP:

Looks like a James Cameron Tidal wave this December with 4K True Lies and Aliens also available via Digital Download in the US and then on 4K Disc in March 2024. Supposedly they include the directors extended versions as well. Hopefully we get some announcement for this part of the world soon.

We wont be getting physical media releases  for Titanic, The Abyss, Aliens or True Lies in this part of the world; They are distributed by Disney/Buena Vista and, as we already know, Disney have pulled out of the Australasian market. Importing is our only way.

We should get Digital releases through iTunes etc. Hopefully the Digital versions will have the same specs (or better) as the discs.

All four disc releases will have Dolby Vision video, and all except Aliens will have Dolby Atmos audio. Aliens will be DTS-HD MA 5,1.

Just been browsing JBNZ website and I noticed that they have added many titles to their 4K Ultra HD section. A few weeks ago there were 287; since they upgraded their website there are 367.

I see Rambo: Last Blood at $14.98. I'll wait and see if they are going to have a Black Friday sale. If not, then I'll grab it anyway at that price. Mad Max: Fury Road is now in stock. I had to get it from Amazon AU when I was looking for it.

Re: The above post.

Disney are going the whole hog with  The Abyss, Aliens and True Lies. 100gb triple layer discs with Dolby Vision on all of them. Almost all of their previous 4K Ultra HD releases have been on 66gb discs and with 4K HDR10 video. I'm wondering if James Cameron had a say in this.

And all of this after Disney have assigned Australasia to Digital copies from now on. 🤬

Kind of ironic considering where James Cameron now lives...

JBAU have already got a pre-order on their website for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023) [AU$39.98].

The film has only just hit cinemas worldwide (November 17th) and stars West Side Story's Rachel Zegler, so obviously no release date yet.

Should anyone be interested, Amazon AU has Reservoir Dogs 4K for $24.63AU at the moment, somewhat cheaper than JB NZ/AU.

Different versions maybe, included bluray is region A, need to add more stuff if you want free postage, but still...

20% off all 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD (except pre-orders) until 23:59  on November 27th

New additions to the 4K Ultra HD pre-order list on the website.

January 18th 2024

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero (2022) - Lenticular Edition [$47.98]

The Mist (2007) - Special Edition [$51.98]

EDIT:

Oppenheimer, Field of Dreams and To Kill a Mockingbird have (I think) been mistakenly reduced by 20%. Might be worth a punt if you are intending to buy any of them.

Oppenheimer SteelBook Edition has disappeared from the website (glad I pre-ordered)

From JBAU • Dunkirk

From JBNZ • Rambo: Last Blood, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One and Gran Turismo. Also Oppenheimer SteelBook Edition which was a pre-order.

Might get All Quiet on the Western Front from AZ AU while its 34.60AU. Spent ages browsing round trying to find something I actually want (that I haven't got already) to get up to the free shipping threshold...

I see Avatar: The Way of Water UHD has disappeared from both jbhifi nz and au. Wonder if this is to do with the collector's editions coming out or if Disney is now not only stopping new releases but pulling existing releases from australasia that they think might impact disney plus subscriptions
