Fathers day and I've been ok'd to upgrade my 40" 1080p Samsung which has been a great reliable TV maybe since maybe 2011? So many choices it would be great to get a recommendation from a GZ'er here.

Needs to have:

  • Great Sound
  • Prefer Connectors on LHS (when looking from front)
  • Google TV rather than Android TV (haven't used either but seems like Google TV is a better experience from what I've read)
  • Not sure about OLED HDR etc etc
  • VESA Mount Compatible
  • Optical Out (I have an Onkyo Sound bar that I could use if needed)

I have an Apple TV HD, but think a TV with built-in Chromecast/Apple TV would also be useful.

I guess I like the style of the Sony's and Samsung's (think bezel etc) but am open to anything else.

You would probably be in the market for something like the Sony X85J 50". Ticks most of your boxes. You will be using it for gaming as well or just TV/Streaming? For your Budget OLED would be out of the question.

Sony 77" A80J OLED, Integra 60.7, Panasonic UB820, Toshiba HD-XE1, Apple TV 4K, JBL L100T,JBL 18Ti, JBL L20T, Velodyne HGS15
