Hi there to all at Geekzone

My sister upgrated tv so she pass me on the old LCD HDTV and after i setup the pc
I cant get the desktop screen to fill up the tv screen i got like a two inches black frame around the actual desktop windows? is it becouse the tv is HD and not full HD, how ever the graphics from nvidia are capable to run this on 1080 but im running in on 720p but i cant resize the screet to use the whole screen. if i try 1080 the resolution is too high and i cant find win7 start key or talsk bar and freeview does not broadcast on 1080 anyway as far im aware off.

Im connecting to the tv from DVI to HDMI adaptor but that should not affect the image only the sound.

is there any way i could fix this?

You need to set your PC to the screen resolution the TV supports. You can't just make this up.

Many older TV's also don't support 1:1 pixel mapping over HDMI.

Check the menus on the TV too, just in case there are aspect ratio buttons/options etc that affect hdmi inputs as well.

Make sure in the Nvidia control panel you use the TV tab. That should only show resolutions that the TV is capable of displaying.

Im using the TV settings and no matter what resolution i use is either too big or too small for the 32 inch screen and when i resize in nvidia i can make it smaller but not bigger. I will try with the tv settings and let you know.

Note: It maybe the tv setting as I just tried an ATI card HD3870 and same problem.

Freeview does transmit 1080i as well as lower resolutions depending on which channel you are watching.

Have you tried component input?
I presume it's an older TV?
I seem to remember my old Panasonic HD Ready TV didn't allow changes in size (Zoom etc) using HDMI but did on all other inputs. My new Sony TV does allow changes except in 3D mode.

This is an old LDC HD ready tv and I reckon it maybe the HDMI as others have point it out as when i tried to change size in tv menu I notive there are a few features on grey when HDMI and when i change input this setting are available including screeen size however I do have find an adaptor to get image from DVI or HDMI to the tv without using HDMI, I do have a s-video cable but image seemed inferior in my opinion.

Check what resolution the TV supports.

the tv supports 720 resolution and that is why that is what im using?
wierd that it does not work
