Hi team geekzone,
I'm considering adding an additional 8GB of Ram to my single seat HTPC to run a ramdisk for the timeshift buffer. I understand how to set it up etc, but I have a question regarding the number of files or space required to make it all work vs the number of tuners.
I guess a basic question, on a single seat setup does Mediaportal create timeshift buffers for ALL tuners in use, even those directly recording, i.e. 2 tuners, one watching and one recording would both require timeshift buffers and would compete with the values in the timeshift settings in TV server; OR does it only need a buffer for the live TV tuner and the other tuner records directly to the hard disc?
Secondly, on a multi-seat setup does the server still require timeshift buffers per tuner OR does it pass the TS stream directly to the client and the client runs the buffer? How does this work with timesteps or ff/rw on server/client setups?
Any help would be good.
