Sorry to post an additional thread about the Pi but that thread is long and I couldn't find an answer to my question in it!

I'm looking for a client to play SD freeview tv from my fortherecord/TVServer back end in the bedroom.  I was thinking of constructing a new HTPC from the spare parts I own but that might be overkill for a 32" TV that really won't get that much use.

Is the current raspberry pi cable of playing the SD TV stuff that is distributed by satellite?  Obviously you need the correct PVR plugin for XBMC or OpenElec, but if the hardware is fast enough the software will come.

Reven - if you're reading this, I understand your interested in the 4tr plugin by Red_F; I take it then that you believe the raspberry pi can do the necessary work in hardware (bar 1080i of course).

Sorry for the slightly long and rambling post... just trying to get my head around the cheapest way to build a front end client.
