Having DSR-600 decoder is geting worse since everything is getting better (larger TV, more speakers, larger lounge with recliner) except the decoder.

I even tried to get MYSKY but $599 for rent silver box with old decoder by paying extra $25 per month is seems like stealing for me. (And I don't have second TV to connect it anyway)

I even tried to change decoder by paying $75 but deceived by technician. (Tech said I don't need to change decoder in order to have component output because they will upgrade my decoder's software soon -- well Cyril7 pointed DSR-600 couldn't do the component from hardware level)

Nontheless it was still ok with old SONY CRT on channel "5", however ever since I installed larger screen DIGITAL TV, it looks absolutely terrible with channel "5" or Composit or S-video

So now I wonder, which decoder (except MySKY) would you prefer to have even paying $75?

And merry Christmas!

If you get MySky for $599, you can return the old decoder and then you don't have to pay $25 per month extra, it is just your normal subscription.  Honestly, once you have had MySky, you would never go back.  It is so much more convenient for recording programs.  Choose your program from the GUIDE, press "REC" and that's it!  And if you want to record the whole series, press "SERIES LINK" and that's it!  2 buttons to record a whole series.  So much more convenient than a separate DVD recorder.

I second that, mySky is the way togo, the extra $25 is only if you keep the old box, otherwise once you have payed your $599 you pay no difffent ongoing subs.

That said if you decide MySky is not your cup of tea then the DS230 is fine. Only down side is that it has no RCA connectors just a VCR and TV Scart.

Call them up, tell them the picture isnt good enough and that you want it swapped or taken away. They will swap it.

If you have artifacts on colours on your new tv, look thru the menus for a 3d comb ffilter option and turn it off. In my experiance it causes loads of problems, and solves none.
