Why is the EPG available via Freeview so poorly presented. It would have to be the worst possible EPG available anywhere. Why Freeview did not invest in the PACE one which SKY use which works so much better and is fast to page through the channels. Instead they try to reinvert the wheel and fail miserably

It probably depends on the device you are using to view it.

What he said.

The EPG uses MHEG5 as this is the only way the EPG can be delivered with a consistant UI across every Freeview device. It will differ slightly depending on the device and whether you're viewing the HD EPG or the SD EPG - the SD will appear slightly blockly on some devices.

I was not worried about the look but the usage. Have you ever tried rolling forward through the channels or days and seem how slow and clunky it is.

Well, my experience is the opposite to yours. Having used several types of generic satellite receivers to view the EPG, it is far more usable and quicker to respond than Sky on a Pace box (which is kludgy and slow in comparison).

Sorry I was not clear enough I have several decoders also but they are all Terrestial so I was not comparing with Satellite.
Maybe there is a differebce between Terrestial and Satellite

I think you are limited to the MHEG5 EPG via terrestrial - there is periodic contact with Freeview staff on here via the ask Freeview threads - may pay to raise this as a usability issue with them?
