SO had a good play with XBMC in the weekend and put it on my main PVR box.

Have left it on there, but after spending a big of time with HIP I couldn't get the remote working properly.  Especially the directional keys.

Seems HIP/URB-UIRT with a Harmony pretending to be an MCE remote wants to send a numpad6 to XBMC for the right key, rather than the right arrow key.

I guess my two solutions are spend a bunch of time trying to get HIP working properly (and considering it's probably not developed any more), or get XBMC to accept the numberpad6 - which I think it more likely to happen.

I had a toodle with the keymaps.xml but don't really know what I should be putting in there.

You can also use the Microsoft Media Center Keyboard device in the Harmony setup and then map any general key press to any button.

I use it to send keypresses for menu/subtitle/aspect ratio stuff on plex without needing anything more fancy.

What is this setting?  I think my "device" is a Microsoft Media Center - I use a Harmony 525 - one of the old 15 device jobbies.

You could have a look at EventGhost as an alternative to HIP, it might allow you to do what you want.

Yeah it probably would.  But would mean I'd have to redo my entire (working) pvr.  Just more hassle.

Is eventghost still developed?  I'd also have to look if it supports the URB-UIRT receiver.

Too many acronyms.

I have my harmony remote half working with my R Pi/XBMC. I got a windows media centre remote, added it to the harmony software, and messed around for a few hours and got something working. I have no idea how, it's a really ugly solution really.

Add a microsoft media center keyboard device to your Harmony devices.

Then in the activity for 'watching movies' (or whatever you call it) edit the button mapping and change the d-pad on the remote to work with the arrow keys of the keyboard device you just added.

Sync the remote and it should all work fine.

In theory.
