Hey guys, after months of consideration, I finally bought a Realtek RTL2832U based DVB-T stick from China, as they are hard to come by in NZ for some reason, to use a SDR.


Just wondering, I'm located in Henderson, West Auckland, and was really hoping to listen in on the police, but I'm well aware that they wern't happy about us all listening in on their communications, and they decided to go digital, and encrypt their channels. If somebody finds out a way to descramble that, that would be nice, but I know it's probably not going to happen, but I was just coming here to ask, if it would be possible where I stay to receive Police communications outside of auckland? I know that, I can receieve a few of the waikato stations, and even Northland stations easilly in the car, I was wondering, could I pick up police channels from say Hamilton, and Northland? If the police channel was broadcasted from Te Aroha, which is well known for being quite a high power transmitter, then could it be possible to pick up the police from Hamilton, in West Auckland?
