Replacing my much loved 42 DT50 that some a..hole stole 2 months back.

Panasoinc don't do true 200Hz 42" panels anymore..

So I have narrowed it down to these two - on paper the LG looks like a go, and can be had for about $300 less. And it is dual core,so maybe the apps area bit snappy. I always thought the Pansonic apps were, well I will be polite and say a steaming pile of dog turd.

But it is an LG...

ANy comments? I also considered the Sony W800, but for some reason I have never been a Sony fan. 40" Samsung 6400 was also considered, but the base is just too damned ugly.

Oh and 42 is the biggest I can go for, so no point suggesting any bigger ;)

Cheers

The LG will cost you less as it's a backlit design, with the old style fat chassis, whereas the Panasonic is a slim-line edge-lit LED, perfect for wall mounting etc. The dual core processor doesn't exactly feel 'snappy' on the LG, to be fair, they're both a much of a muchness. The optional Magic Remote of the LG does help improve the usability, but really, they're no PC replacement.
When the 42LA6620 was around, that would have been my pick... but for whatever reason, I haven't really seen it around much anymore.
The Sony W800 has the best picture of the lot, IMHO. However the styling doesn't float my boat, and the smart offerings would certainly be trounced by the Panasonic / LG.
