Hi there

At Noel Leeming for $549. I'm replacing a 26 inch Sharp from about 8 years ago. I don't play blue ray, mainly downloaded and streamed movies via Apple TV.

As I am replacing a smaller lower tech TV will it look wonderful, or as it is bigger, and different technology, might the fact that this is a budget model mean I will notice dragging picture..or something else?

It's a $1 cheaper everywhere... it's sort of funny that you can go into all the competitors and they always seem to be $1 cheaper than whatever Noel Leeming put on their website! I guess they just scrape the info, then ticket their products...

Anyway, it's the bottom of the line 50Hz TV from Samsung. No bells, no whistles, just a basic panel that may suffer from poor motion. I'd certainly weight that up in your mind and see if it's something that could annoy you. It's good that you're using the Apple TV though, as the USB ports on the 5000 can't support HDD's, only USB sticks.

I have a friend who just got one. He is very happy with it.

It was a replacement for a D-Series Samsung 40" Base model. He says it looks better than his old one (I think UA40D5000).

I think for a 40" panel, you will not be unhappy.

Link here. I have two Samsung LCD TVs, 5 year old 40" and 2 year old 55", both are good. LED would be even better. I think it'll do a good job. I use no smart features, I add them around the TV, R Pi etc.
