I have an old Philips MCD 710 that has dead speakers, but I have a few 6 Ohm Sspeakers that I want to use. The Philips says 4 Ohm on the back. Can I connect the 6 Ohm ones? Will it do any damage?
You can connect 6ohm speakers with no risk to the speakers or amp (provided that the amp is not faulty). These impedance measurements are only nominal anyway. You may have slightly reduced power output from the amp, but you probably won't notice the difference.
