My work was donated a 55" LED 3D touch screen TV from china. The body of the TV is completely metal (steel) and the power cable only has a 2 prong plug which means there is no ground wire.

Is this TV legal in NZ as I doubt with the body being metal that its double insulated. I would appreciate any help!

If it's double insulated, there should be a logo saying so on one of the labels on the back.
The double insulated logo is usually two squares, one inside the other.

I'd be less concerned about "legal" and more concerned about "might it electrocute someone". Being Chinese and presumably no-brand, your mileage on both may vary.

The TV is a Skyworth 55e72rd.

Looking at the back is has the double insulated logo, thanks for pointing that out xcubed.

My sony bravia is only two prong, no earthing and its alright *shrug*

Does it have a three C Mark (CCC) ?

This is the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) system, if it does met this then it is likely legal in NZ under the China-NZ FTA
