After a move from the Middle East and a few month storage in a finished basement, I unpacked my Onkyo TX-NR809 only to have the the screen show a jumbled mess of nonsense followed by an immediate powering off. Is this a fixable issue or has the long journey home resulted in a fried receiver?

Does the on-screen menu's still work? Perhaps a firmware update will also 'reset' it?

It's quite possible the little ribbon cable most likely attaching the screen to a board has shifted / been bumped out.

Are you sure that the receiver supports 230 V at 50 Hz?

The faulty network chip may be an underlying issue that affects this particular unit. It would still need repair and qualify for out of warranty servicing.
The shipping costs would have to be factored of course.

Give the guys at avalon Audio a call, They're the repair agents in NZ so their techs should have some clue as to what the cause is

No, the on-screen menu isn't available as the screen is completely jumbled as in the photo. It stays on only 2-3 seconds then powers down.

Have you tried a factory reset? I don't know the steps for this model so you may find you are unable to try that.
