I know a lot of you guys are fans of XBMC and Plex, but does anyone use MediaBrowser?
It seems kind of unknown to most people, but it's pretty cool.
It's a free and open source media manager. The only thing that costs money is some plugins created by users.

I personally use MediaBrowser to locally manage about 30 users. Plex requires me to get a plex pass which kind of sucks. Even if I did get a pass, I would have to manually sign up everyone's account through plex.tv servers and run server authentication for all of them which isn't really possible considering this is a LAN server.
My users all use their web clients to access my server. Most of my content is encoded with h264 and mp4 file container for direct streaming.
It's got a decent amount of app support; Roku, iOS, Windows Phone, Android, XBMC etc

i use it. it has a MCE (windows Media Center) add-in which works great on both the HTPC inside MCE, and on the xbox extender. the web client is great and there are also native clients for my Windows 8+ and Windows Phone. hoping to see an xbox one client in the future!

plex is great IMO, sure its got a subscription based model (if you want to use it), and if you use software daily I believe in supporting the development of that software. but its completely optional.

the best selling point of plex is the clients in runs on, Samsung tv/lg tvs, android/ios/(windows phone?), google tv, android tv, roku. the server runs on pretty much anything too.

i switched to plex from xbmc when xbmc would crash on my ouya, then I just purchased some samsung tvs and run it on those. perfect setup really.

if mediabrowser ran on samsung tvs, i'd look into it. as long as the server would run on my readynas.

I have been using Twonky for quite some time and have experienced no problems with it. Works great.

I used it with my old HTPC build (within MC7) but found that the rescan would kill the PC for a couple of minutes (would happen every restart). After a build I decided to persevere with MediaPortal (always gave up mid setup due to all the different options, installation files etc).

I might go back to MediaBrowser3 later on. Will keep an eye on development and see how it matures some more.

Using MediaBrowser 3 and loving it. They have come such a long way since Mediabrowser was just a (clunky) plugin to Windows Media Center.

I am still using the plugin to WMC but it works a lot better now that it is supported by the MB3 Server.

Loving the web browser clients and the Android App as well. Quite impressed that I could finish my favourite TV Show while sitting on the can ;-)

I use mediabrowser server with the MediaPortal plugin. What I would really like is a MP TVengine (3 or future 3.5) plugin to allow Mediabrowser to use the TV engine as I think MBHT is a solid piece of kit. They're also working on TV Apps and have a beta Samsung TV app. The ability to use this, with Live TV, would be wonderful as I could then retire my HTPC from the lounge and run everything from the TV with my server in the cupboard serving the content.

I use MediaBrowser inside Windows Media Centre on Windows 7 - works great. I am considering the move to MB3 along with a move to Windows 8.1 on the Media Center (which I am doing to get Netflix in 1080 and Hulu Plus).
