It's on okay TV, the smarts are like most 'smart TV's, not overly handy.
However, if they launch a NZ Netflix app in time for the NZ launch next year, you probably won't care too much about TVNZ or TV3 on Demand...

How do they compare to the samsungs in the price range.

Currently a deal going on at JBHifi which looks quite tempting:

Sony 60" Full HD LED-LCD Smart TV (KDL60W600B) + Sony 40" KDL40W600B for $1791
http://www.jbhifi.co.nz/tv-lcd-led-p...tv-sku-277348/

Sony 60" 3D Full HD LED-LCD Smart TV (KDL60W850B) + Sony 40" KDL40W600B for $2496
http://www.jbhifi.co.nz/tv-lcd-led-p...tv-sku-269629/

Considering they are LED, they are pretty fat. The older LED screens where thinner. It seems the more you pay, the better the build quality and thickness could be. I would rather a discount than a free TV that I didn't want.

after having a second look compared to the samsung model (H6400 series) the menu and tv seems abit slow, apps are not as good

picture wise out of the box the sony looks better than samsung but with abit of tweaking the samsung is a overall better tv i reckon

I'm more of a sony person. I have had good experience with Sony, and find their products really reliable. Also Sony designs are generally well thought out and stylish looking. They seem to put a lot of effort into nice simple designs.
