Does anyone when 4k DVD players and discs, which I believe will be called Red-Ray, will become available?
I notice that Blue- Ray players that upscale to 4k have recently been introduced.

To be honest , I think the answer is never, blu ray will likely be the last "new" sell through format,
Streaming and digitsl downloads are where the content providers want customers to go, they will support the legacy disc formats while they continue to sell, but in the end I think the "disc on the shelf" is doomed....

Actually they have already released a 4K Blu-ray format and player (note to the OP - its BluRay, not DVD).

http://www.wired.com/2015/09/samsung-4k-blu-ray-player/

It's a Samsung and will be on sale by Xmas 2015.

Here's a review:

Also I forgot to add - the quality of picture on a 4K disc will far outweigh the quality of any streaming service.
