I have just purchased a 2026 Panasonic  TH50DX740U TV ste. The set operates perfectly on the Freeview Tuner, but when I connect my Lazer Blu-Ray DVD player while a get an excellent picture there is no sound. On the set I have connected the Optical to a coberter that send the sound to my speakers. When I connect the DVD player there is no sound even through the set's speakers. I have consulted the manuals for both and altered the audio settings for both as recommended without success.

Can anyone suggest further avenues to explore?

Other settings I might use?

Could it be the HDMI cable?

Many thanks

On your bluray player, where are the leads going to?  I assume HDMI out is going to the TV. What about the other outputs, please explain where your optical is going to and/from again?

You don't need to touch your tv settings. The problem is likely before the tv. Concentrate on your bluray player settings.

Why do you need a converter to send sound to your tv

Presumably does not have a home theatre/amp.

Have you disconnected the optical from your gizmo's, then tried the DVD straight into an HDMI port?
Switch the TV and DVD off then turn them both back on and try after disconnecting the optical.
Any joy?
