Gday All,

Never had an HTPC before and converting my old PC into one. It has an E8400 cpu and radeon hd 5770, Win 7 with Media Player Centre, so i figure it's got the grunt in the trunk.

But I have no experience of TV tuners and was interested in what the limitations of this uber cheap Leadtek tuner are ? Would it do the trick if i just want to use Windows Media Centre for one tuner with a remote?

What extra software would i need ? (apart from that program that loads mheg guide into WMC - forget its name)

It says nothing about h264 but i figure my radeon can process that?

Most people who are serious HTPC people have network tuners like the HDHomerun these days.

That card will work fine, or you can just put a USB DVB-T stick for under $10.

I use NextPVR for my TV front end, but lots of people use Media Portal. Both are vastly superior options to Win7 MCE.

That HDHomeRun thing looks good but in truth the TV is happy with its panasonic hdd recorder, i'm just looking to recycle a PC in order to give the TV access to streamed/downloaded movies (normally i just plug the laptop in via hdmi but that uses up a screen, making the "competition" unhappy!). But a TV tuner will give me an option to fiddle with recording stuff to a bigger hdd.

So if any tv tuner does the trick i might try that trade me one because of the extra antenna...
