I think you need to set the box up for component video before trying it.

Does the Pace box come with any other SCART cables? I think you need to try using those, before using the component cable with your TV.  (I have a S-Video and Composite cable that came with mine)

unfortunately my pace didnt come with any other scart cables. it used to work with my old CRT tv. i have my sky dish going straight to the pace sky decoder and the decoder was being fed into the vcr (old tape player) which was then plugged into the CRT tv. is there any other way to get this going without buying more cables ?

thanks for the reply.

How did you connect the decoder to the VCR?

kaboom: unfortunately my pace didnt come with any other scart cables. it used to work with my old CRT tv.

The reason why your decoder could be viewed on your old TV, but cannot on your new TV is due to one or both of the following:

-  You were previously using the RF Modulator or Composite Input of your VCR to feed your TV the Sky Decoder's output signal

-  The cable you are using is not the correct SCART to Component cable

I have just recently got a new 24" LCD Monitor with Component Video inputs (as well as VGA and DVI/HDMI).

It works just fine with the newer Silver Sky Decoder (Motorola?) as well as MySky.

But You Do Need to select Component Video Output in Setup first Wink

And you do need the correct cable or adaptor.  DSE sold me a SCART connector with Red/Green/Blue colour-coded sockets on the back for $20 approx.  Then you just need a set of 3 RCA Male-to-Male cables to hook into your TV's Component Video inputs.

Otherwise, no cigar Smile

Something like this?

Plug it into the TV, scan for the correct UHF channel at which the box is feeding out of at, and you should be able to at least get something to look at.

What you have been using is the modulated UHF output from your Sky Decoder, which is the lowest quality means of watching Sky channels.  It's pretty horrible really Foot in mouth

YES, it should still work so long as you have the TV tuned correctly to the UHF channel used by the Sky Decoder.  Do a Search on the UHF band, and you should soon find it.

BUT, you really need to get the Component Video connection working to get the most out of your Sky Decoder Smile

Just normal TV (not any of the AV). You will need to run a channel scan to find what channel the SKY decoder is at.

thanks mate. that was a good link. my decoder is Pace DSR600 which is ancient so i think when the sky technican eventually does show up he will replace this with something newer.
