Ive just for the first time setup media portal following the mediaportal wiki section pertaining to NZ https://www.team-mediaportal.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=10454620

I'm stuck on this part because the links don't work now and so I'm not sure how they are configuring the scheduling of the task to update epg data once per day... when i run epg centre it cant find the freeview.ini file even though its in c:\epg\ directory. I have to run the epg collect and then browse for the ini file and then it all works.

Okay here's how I've got it setup. There may be an easier way to do this but this way works so I just go with it lol.
In the folder with the EPG collector program files create a new notepad text document and copy and paste this:

cd \"C:\Program Files\EPG\EPGCollector.exe"
EPGCollector.exe /ini="C:\Program Files\EPG\freeview.ini"

This is what I use so you will need to change the directory locations to where these files are stored on your PC.

Change the location on the first line to the location of EPGCollector.exe.
Change the location on the second line to the ini file with your working collection parameters.
Make sure you keep the "" between the locations and also spaces in the location are OK.

Then save the file as whatever you want. I use EPG Batch Run.txt

Then rename the file so that it has the file extension .bat
In my case that file then becomes EPG Batch Run.bat

Now double click this .bat file to see if it works. It runs the same as the EPG Collector program but it will do it in a command prompt window instead of the program so just let it run.

If this works and it collects the data then all you have to do is go into Windows Task Scheduler and then click Create a new basic task.
Go through the on screen prompts and get it to run that batch file once a day at a time you like.

My understanding is EPGCollector is no longer needed. Just turn on epg collection in MediaPortal and it'll work.

It was originally needed because Freeview only broadcast the full guide using mheg5 data, but they added full data to eit too at some poing

Thanks i did look at the EPG Collection options in the TV server settings... will have a play tonight

Thanks thats what i wasnt sure of the syntax to pass the freeview.ini file to the EPG Collector progam
