Just downloaded the update file (sony_dtvota_2016_1602508100_paa_auth.zip) from Sony Asia Pacific site in Thailand.

I'll give it a go tomorrow morning.

Fingers crossed it will fix a couple of issues and not create any new ones!

Oh wow, that's a surprise, My 55X8500C only just got Marshmellow - I was about to post that you are talking about Marshmellow.

Looks like my TV may get it later this year or next.  Looking forward to Android N.

Don't get your hopes up for that.

Updated now to 7.0. Went without a hitch. One of my problems is still there, though. Mirroring from my S5 still doesn't work. Think it stopped after S5 updated to 6.0.1.

Now to see whether the erratic turn on/wakeup problem has been fixed.

Hi there. I have a Sony Bravia 55x7000D and it has now notified me of the new update. However I go through the motions of the update (takes about 10 minutes) and then re-boots, but it doesn't actually update.

The TV will then (in the background) download the update, notify me again, etc. and around it goes again.

Has anybody else had this issue? Perhaps if I were to manually install the update - can anybody direct me to the instructions and download link for this?

Have you resolved this issue?

Do you have any startup issues like it needing to reboot rather than come out of sleep mode?

Yes, I solving the issue.

No mater what I did, I was unable to perform the update via the update feature that is inbuilt into the OS. So in the end I downloaded the latest firmware for the TV from Sony's website, copied it onto a 8GB USB stick, and performed the update that way. This worked with no issues.

I haven't experienced the issue that you speak of - rebooting rather than coming out of sleep mode. How do you re-produce it?

One tip that my son found quite by accident is that if you hold the "home" button down on the remote it comes up with a fast task-switcher that allows for any open apps to be closed. This is a revelation for us as we found under the previous version of the OS that we had to do a full-reboot on the unit every week or so as it got so slow and unresponsive - presumably due to lots of apps open in the background.

That's how I updated mine as well.

Good tip re closing apps. Took me a while to find how to close them. Eventually noticed the X below the app pic.

As far as the start issue is concerned, it just occurs seemingly at random after pressing the On button. When it occurs, the TV won't start. After waiting a minute or so more On presses makes it reboot. It is a pain. I waited till the Nougat update to see whether that fixed it bit it didn't. Not sure what to do from here. Can't see how NL can get it fixed but I will have to go back to see about it.

There are others complaining of this but with other models.

Update on my 49X7000D start problem.

It has been to the service people here in Porirua and it was there a fortnight - bah. They did a factory reset and checked it had the latest software update. Of course, this is what I had already done.

Well, it started fine over a 36 hr period then went back to the odd reboot carry on. It doesn't seem quite as bad as before but there is no logical reason why it would be any different as, basically, nothing different has been done.

Now pondering my options. The repair people are going to ring this week to see whether it has been fixed. I will tell them that it hasn't so interesting what will happen after this.

But I don't want another period without it but it is still a devalued product that I am picking no one can fix.

May be time to push the CGA hard.
