It depends. Check the input voltage, if its 110 - 230V then yes just a travel converter type thing. If it's only 110V then you need a transformer, which is bigger, heavier, and more expensive.

Travel converters aren't super safe. You're not allowed to sell new electronics in NZ that rely on them.

If it's the XL Sport then it uses a USB charger. You can use any wall charger you get from a local retailer.

I had a Fugoo here and just handed it over to @dratsab last week.

Might be easiest if you can post a link to the item that you purchased from amazon?

They are all the same. I linked to Amazon from your previous post.

The Fugoo Style XL product page is here. It comes with a USB adapter. You only need a local USB adapter.

Not sure what you mean by 'powered only by mains' - it has a large battery that you charge via a standard USB cable with USB micro B at one end, a la zillions of mobile phones. If you've just brought it from Amazon it should have an 'official' charger and USB cable in the box.

The manual (http://www.fugoo.com/template/images/downloads/Fugoo-XL-Speaker-User-Manual.pdf) states that it's "Charged by 19VDC international AC adapter (included)" - so given that it states it's an international AC adapter, you should be able to use a travel adaptor to charge.

The website images do appear to imply that its a USB power brick?

Also, you can connect your sound source (phone, iPod etc) to it via an included 3.5mm TRS cable to save battery power.

From the little test I did yesterday, these speakers go really loud. It'll be competing against a Stihl 044 chainsaw tomorrow :-)

It probably needs to store more energy than a power bank would be able to feed so yeah, mains.

Edit: that's a mains adaptor with a USB cable attached...
