On a whim I recently bought a Liteon BDROM drive. Not knowing exactly what I was going to do with it I also got myself a new HTPC case and deciced to try and spiffy up my HTPC with the addition of the Blu-ray drive.
I'm well aware of the lack of integration with Vista and Windows Media Center, but have decided this is a challenge-worthy project anyway :)
I just thought I'd put the feelers out to see if anyone here has got Blu-ray working in their rig. If yes, then please note your thoughts down here. I'm particularly interested in and out of the ordinary hurdles you had to overcome.
I'm using PowerDVD 8 Ultra. I just got myself a copy of 300 on Blu-ray and having done the new case build last night, I think I'll spend some time tonight trying to get this drive playing the disc :)
I expect many curse words to be uttered through the evening.
One thing though. I recently tried to upgrade my PowerDVD to the latest patch to cater for newer Blu-ray discs. The patch was successful and the software ran ex-VMC...but when I tried to go into my DVD gallery in VMC the whole ehome app crashed. Sigh. I'm hoping that this will be fixed by a clean install of powerdvd + patch. My main fear at the moment is that I'll be able to get Blu-ray working at the expense of being able to use my DVD gallery. If that were the case I think I'd just resign myself to waiting for better Blu-ray VMC integration and give up. But fingers crossed.
So, any ideas HTPC people?
G.
