Hi
I want to buy a 24inch LCD monitor for under $600. I also need this monitor to be able to work with a PS3. I understand for it to work with a ps3 i need
1. HDCP compliant monitor
2. A 1:1 pixel mapping feature
As most monitors only support 1920x1200. And the ps3 outputs a signal as 1920x1080 because of this monitors which do not support
1:1 pixel mapping will stretch the video which makes the quality and the overall quality worse.
I am looking to buy the AOC 416v. On there website it says it supports 1920X1080 but it is not the reccomended resolution. I was wondering if it just means that it supports the resolution but if it will strecth the video. Also apart from this monitor is there any other 24inch which will work with the ps3
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi,

I have a 24" monitor but not an AOC, so I can't comment whether that one has a 1:1 pixel-mapping feature. I would expect most available today to have that feature though (when I got mine a few years ago, you definitely needed to be careful when shopping for that feature).

If you like AOC, you should also look at the 416Va as this seems to have speakers as well. You've probably got external ones anyway if you're using it for games, but this at least gives you some extra flexibility and could help re-sale if you ever want to change it in the future.

My recommendation would be to check out Samsung, though, as their monitors will leave AOC's for dead. The 245B is a good choice and easily available for around $620 in NZ.

but yeah most monitors still dont have pixel mapping. That samsung monitor is probably better but it does not support the resolution of 1920X1080 and does not have pixel mapping. Also the AOC 416v does not have pixel mapping and the AOC 416va is much more expensive to find in auckland.

Check out pricespy for a nice surprise on the AOC 416va.

However, IMHO, I would not place 1:1 pixel mapping above many other monitor qualities for your application (PS3 gaming).

I agree with CJBravo, take a closer look at the Samsung.

Although there are many gamers here in the Geekzone forums I think you might have better luck finding this sort of advice in the Gameplanet forums as I'm sure there will be people there that are using a PS3 with a 24" monitor.

Hi thanks i will check out the game planet forum. Also for the AOC 416va the shop is in christchurch so it would not be econimical for me

Apologies, it was the Samsung 245T that has 1:1, which is a lot more expensive.

You could look at the BenQ V2400W, which has 1:1 and is regarded as an excellent monitor (I've used BenQ in the past). One on TradeMe now for $680, if your budget can stretch that far.

hi thanks for everyones help i went with the LG-l246wh.
It supports 1:1 pixel mapping has a hdmi port (no dvi port) 2 usb ports a vga port and component. Also has audio out.
Found this monitor too be much beta specs wise and is only 617 dollars.
