Hi Guys,
I am wanting some info on what connection will give me the best picture quality from my PC to HDTV over a distance of 10m. I'm currently using option 1.
PC ======> HDTV
1. S.Video ===> S.Video
2. S.Video (with adpator) ===> Component
3. DVI =====> VGA(PC Input)
4. DVI =====> HDMI
5. DVI =====> Component

DVI -> VGA or HDMI will give you the best picture quality. It just depends on the type of TV you use. If it supports 1:1 pixel mapping over HDMI then this will probably give you the best picture. If it doesn't do 1:1 pixel mapping then VGA would probably be the best.

Component is next best, s-video is the worst and doesn't really give a decent picture at all.

Agree with above. Use either HDMI or VGA. Pixel Mapping is most important for quality. If you get pixel mapping on HDMI then choose that.

What is your TV model/resolution?

My brother has a 15m DVI-HDMI connection for his PC and he reports it works fine, so 10m should be ok. I think some people have problems with cables >5m but i guess it depends on the strength of the video card signal output. I suggest you goto dicksmith electronics and try out a 10m cable. They have an excellent returns policy if it doesn't work.

NB - S-video is shiet quality compared with the others.

I forgot to add, **DON'T** buy an expensive HDMI cable, they are just for suckers get the cheapest they have. Thicker is better because it is less likely to over flex (bend) and damage the wires inside the cable.

Strange that it doesn't list VGA doing 1920x1080.
You must use HDMI...

PS: 50" 1080P Plasma = Nice

Hi,
When I bougt my LCD TV (sony KDL40W4000) i've tried to connect to my computer with vga. My laptop have a MiniDVI output and a MiniDVI-DVI converter. The best result was to connect the devices with DVI_HDMI cable. Much better with vga.

How come there is no "full Hd" resolution in the list, if the tv is 1080p capable ??

The last 5 of the HDMI connections are 1080p... look in the brackets. They listed res is taking into account overscan I suspect.
