So this is the annual "should I buy the 75" Veon TV?" event ...

Every Christmas I think about this and the TV looks exactly the same a few years running ...

So - is it a good TV?

Picture quality?

Android integrates well?

Lousy sound?

Takes 15 mins to turn on?

no HDR?

etc

fire away!

You know it is a bottom of the barrel panel.

You will need a speaker solution regardless of brand, just more so on a veon.

It will have a crap cpu, you could pair it with a new chomecast with Google tv.

Look for a second hand 75 on trademe or fb marketplace.

I found a tcl 75 on fb and it's been fine with a 2019 nvidia shield.

Me personally, would look for a sony/pana/samaung/tcl.

Don't buy something you think you are going to regret buying from the outset.

I bought a Veon 39" a few years ago for my bedroom. No picture after two weeks, so I had to take it back to The Warehouse. It was fixed, and is still going. Very poor quality TV IMO. I would look at saving a few more dollars, and get one of the "name brands", even their lower quality TV's will be better than the Veon.

Hope this helps 🙂

A relative of mine has a 65" Veon 4K, and to be fair the picture quality isn't much different from my 65" 4K Sony. The sound is awful though, and it doesn't have any smart tv capability. I think the Veon TV + Sound bar + Mi Box is probably similar cost to my Sony. If you already had a Mi Box/Shield/Apple TV and a soundbar however, then the value proposition isn't bad with a Veon TV.

Most things I've heard about any Veon TV is : Good picture, crap sound. That's for the $$$. So no point comparing it to a $$$$ TV.

We have a 4K 55 inch that is now used for gaming. Xbox Series X looks great on it. Sound is okay for general TV. Had it 3+ years with no issues. Only replaced to get HDR support for movies.

I have no experience with the 75" model, but my parents got a 42" a while back - with no intention of using the speakers - to use with a PC and bluray player as inputs. Disabling all picture enhancements and using a hardware calibrator (the picture controls for individual RGB gains made it possible to get the panel pretty close to spec without having to rely on a software profile) got a decent image in the end. Out of the box it was awful.

Just looked at the listing on the warehouse website. 1299 is pretty sharp and stock mid Jan, so fresh model.

It's a big jump up to a name brand at 3k-ish for that size.

If you pair up a soundbar it will do alright.

Depends how picky you are.

I'm mighty tempted - already run my TV through a receiver for sound and have a Shield hooked up.

Only thing is the placement of the VESA mounts - they are every low in that picture which means the TV would sit very high when mounted on the existing wall mount (currently holding a 50" with VESA mounts pretty much centre of the TV).  Not really keen on refixing the wall mount lower.

I've got a bunch of veon 32s, 50, and 58 - all are fine - had a 55 that was refunded after 2.5 years when half the backlight failed. Have had 3 of the 32's replaced under warranty.

Sound on all is truely aweful, you'll need a sound bar or something.

Sure the picture quality isn't as good as top brands but how can you go wrong with a 3 year warranty and perfectly acceptable picture quality.

Its easy to return a 32" for repair, but a bit harder to get a 75" back to repair 😄

75" TV would definitely be harder to take back to the store. I wonder if they'll just take your word for it if you are able to send in photos?

Briscoes gave me a mighty $50 back when the Brabantia kettle failed.

It looks like their refresh of the 75" TV is equivalent to their 65" with QLED.

That is a lot of TV for the money. Has anyone here used the 65" version and can comment on the quality?

Where does it reference QLED?

I thought the box in the store stated QLED. But I might be getting mixed up with the JVC box next to it.
