Helloo...

Still a newbie MyskyHDI user and have used it so far to record a lot of shows.

I was under the impression that without a HD ticket the box records in SD format - thus giving you the ability to record 90 hours of tv...compared to 30 hours with HD ticket.

I have approx 14hours and 15 mins recorded to MySkyHDI and it is at 83% space left.

So currently this will allow me to record about 68hours worth.  30 hours short of 90.  Hmmm.

I notice tv3 broadcasts in HD...but if I don't have an HD ticket, I should get a SD broadcast?

Does the myskyhdi estimate if it has enough space to record like my DVD recorder?

Did you check how much free space you had when you had no programs recorded?  You might find some of the space is used for system stuff.  In any case, if 14h15m uses 17% of the space, doesn't that mean you can record 83h50m in total?  Pretty close to the estimate of 90h?  Or if it were to record 90h, you might find ~2% or so is in use by the system.

P.S. 90 - 68 = 22 ~= 20, just nit-picking.  I'm an actuary (not qualified yet, so my maths in my post might be off but...) maths is my thing... Wink

Depends on cahnnels.
TV3 is HD it was part of the agreement that all HDi owners even without the ticket get TV3 in HD.
Hours left is estimation.

My bad, I did my math a little wrong. (kids stole my calculator and my tired brain was not up to the job)

Thanks for replying though.  I guess I do get panicy when I see the percentage used as percentage wise it does not look like much space and the other day I had used 64% of space in one week..lol  I just find it so useful to record all my shows and watch them when I want and FF ads.

Wish we could see exactly how many hours were left, like on the DVD recorder though.  Would make my tired brain not have to work so hard.

LOL

Oh and Edit:  I guess I was a tad confused as sky on our installation activated our HD Ticket, even though we don't have a HD tv and told them no HD ticket.  So just wanted to make sure that data above sounds pretty normal.

That is what I was wondering.  Thanks for clearing that up.
