Hi,

Ive got my HTPC hooked with three x 3.5 - 2RCA cables, into the 6 channel input of the amp, barring the subwoofer which is active and directly connected to the sub output of the PC.

Everything works ok, but is this an optimal setup?

Should I be using the S/PDIF?

What drivers/software should i be running to make it as good as possible?

Running media portal, whats the best way to upmix all stereo sources, and faithfully pass through the 5.1 info?

Running xp, can I run analog for everything and get the amp to upmix with DPL, and run digital for the 5.1? If so how... but thats not the ideal solution as it requires me knowing when and where I get 5.1, which when watching tv is hard to know.

Can i turn on DPL on the soundcard somehow?

Essentially, im looking for ideas on the perfect audio set-up.

If i need to provide more info for help, let me know.

Cheers,

No, thats far from ideal, the sub should be fed via the reciever as well since otherwise you will lose the bass redirection and volume control.

Ive gone and replaced my 3 cable system with a single rca for dig. coax.

Ive tutu'd with AC3 filter, and am happy with the result so far...
