So my girlfriend's parents bought a 42" LG Plasma TV today and it's conflicting with the Haute HD3000 freeview reciever. Does anyone have experience or know what to do when you get remotes conflicting?

If you don't know what I mean by conflicting, it's pretty much that when you push certain buttons on each remote it does other things on the wrong device. For example if you press the EPG button the freeview remote it activates the selecting an input thing on the tv as well as bringing up the program guide. Also if you press the V-Out button on the freeview remote it changes the volume on the tv. When you press the Input button on the TV remote it changes the channel on the freeview reciever.

So basically half the buttons on each remote do weird stuff on the other device and it's very irritating.

Any help would be much appreciated.

As there is no standard that remote manufactures have to follow, there is nothing you can do.

If it was just one device you could contact the vendor for updated firmware which may help to solve the problem, but since its going both ways there is a very good chance that its codes that are the same or close enough to the same that there is no way to tell.

So basically there's nothing they can do? do you think JB Hi Fi would allow them to swap the set top box with another model and pay the difference?

Worth asking, since its not really working properly.

Heaps of the off brand stuff from asia just seem to pick some codes and go with them rather then using a standardized set like RC6 or the NEC codes.
