Hi, yesterday Sunday 20 July 2025 EPG Collector was collecting 0 information on both a Windows 7 EPG Collector and a Windows 11 EPG Collector machine with a Hauppage quad tuner and a Hauppage dual tuner respectively from Tauranga, New Zealand to Te Aroha Freeview Transmitter on the Kaimais. Today Monday 21 July 2025 it is collecting only enough data for today and Tuesday 22 July 2025, but nothing for Wednesday 23 July 2025 onwards. Is anyone else having this issue?

I have a similar setup - a windows 10 machine and a windows 11 machine, Hauppage quad tuner, also Te Aroha transmitter. All working fine here, fully populating MCE program guide.

Thanks Stu, obviously something going on at my end than. Also made a typo in the original, should have read Windows 7 MCE and Windows 10 Media Portal. EPG Centre Version 4.34 FP 31

Open to suggestions. I haven't changed my EPG Collector.ini file configuration settings since 2016 and tonight I am getting

Completed Finished - output 1521 EPG entries

Completed Exiting with code = 0

No guide past midnight tonight.

Note, I am using MHEG5. Should I be using EIT?

I have changed from MHEG5 to EIT and now have 5814 EPG entries so it is looking much better, thanks.

I have also noted that MHEG5 stopped working since 15th July 2025 in Christchurch (Sugerloaf). While EIT produces some output, it only seems to be now and next for TV1 and TV2. Does anyone know what changed and is there a way to get a week of guide data from EIT?

Thanks.

Hi Wrangler

When I say mine is better, it is also not currently 100%. On my Windows 7 Media Centre using EIT I am getting 7 days of epg guide on Whakaata Maori, Sky Open, eden+1, HGTV, Al Jazeera and a few others but only a day or two on TVNZ  1, TVNZ 2, Three, Bravo, TVNZ Duke, TVNZ 2 +1, eden, Bravo +1, TVNZ +1, TVNZ Duke +1, ThreePlus1 and Rush.

The only error I can see in the collection logs is <E> An exception of type IndexOutOfRangeException has occurred while extracting seasonepisode numbers with the next line saying Index was outside the bounds of the array.

I was thinking it was just a set up issue at my end as some of it is working. I however recently had put Windows 10 (currently unactivated as Windows 7 was no longer getting the free upgrade) on my older HTPC with Media Portal to test it. What is weird is that I am running what I believe is the exact same EIT set up except for it is going to XMLTV instead of Windows Media Centre and getting the exact same IndexOutOfRangeException extracting seasonepisode numbers yet I am seeing seven days worth of EPG on Media Portal. I can not work out why it is working on one and not the other.

Cheers, Mark

Correction, nothing past midnight tonight using either EPG Collector MHEG5 or EIT to Windows 7 Media Centre for TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2 or Three. What is going on?

Have you tried doing the EPG collection from all five of the multiplexes?  When I have had EPG collection problems, it was normally only on one multiplex where someone had stuffed up the transmitter settings.  Shifting to a different multiplex usually found all the data again.  All the FreeviewHD multiplexes are supposed to carry both MHEG5 and EIT data for all the FreeviewHD channels, regardless of the multiplex the channel is transmitted on.  Each multiplex also will carry now/next EIT data for the channels on that multiplex only as different stream(s) from the MHEG5 and full EIT data.

Great news! MHEG5 has started working again all by itself. 13319 EPG entries to Windows 7 Media Centre.

Hi Mark,

I just checked and am still not getting anything from MHEG5 and only now and next from EIT for TV1 & Two, while TV3 and others have about a week of EPG data.  How do you control which multiplex and stream the EIT data is taken from in epgcollector?  I see and EIT parameter (number) in the advanced section of the DVB Terrestrial collection parameters, but it only works if set to zero.

Thanks,

David

Hi David

I had no luck with EPG Collector EIT on Windows 7 Media Centre on either a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-2200 (8980), basically my test machine and also a Hauppage WinTV-quadHD (Model 1662xx), my actual HTPC machine.

I did however upgrade the Windows 7 on the Hauppage WinTV-HVR-2200 (8980) to Windows 10 and install Media Portal. Couldn't get the MHEG5 to work but exporting EPG Collector EIT out to XMLTV and using the Media Portal XMLTV Plug In worked perfectly fine.

I then swapped out the hard drive on the now Windows 10 Hauppage WinTV-HVR-2200 (8980) and installed Linux Mint along with MythTV and the Hauppage drivers from linuxtv.org. MythTV has a built in EIT reader which also showed only now & next for TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2, Three and so on but again all 7 days for Maori, Sky Open and every other channel after that.

https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-2200

I then swapped the hard drive out again and installed Windows 7 back on the WinTV-HVR-2200 (8980) machine but by the time I had installed Service Pack 1, Microsoft.Net Framework 4.61 (4+ required by EPG Collector) and the Hauppage Driver, MHEG5 was working again. I have just now tried to collect EIT on it and got 3419 EPG Records. I will try again tomoorow and let you know as I had already run an MHEG5 on it today and got 13323 EPG Records. Note, I do have Create data for channels with the same name selected on both EIT and MHEG5 Collection Paramaters here.

What I haven't tried to do yet is install Media Portal on the Windows 7 WinTV-HVR-2200 (8980) machine and see if EPG Collector EIT to XLMTV will work like it did on Windows 10 when MHEG5 was down for me.

Cheers

Mark

Any reason to not use a Web based XMLTV source?

I did use EIT and MHEG5 with EPG collection service for many years,  but the guide data sources seemed to be sporadic some months ago, and now use Web XMLTV  guide data

Never thought of using a web based one. Which one do you use?
