Hi

I have just purchased this player to go with my brand new 46" Samsung Series 6 LCD and realised it is only Region 4. Not a major but I have lots of DVDs from the UK which I would like to be able to watch on blu ray player therefore negating the need to retain my Sony DVD recorder which is region free.

Does anyone know if there is a code to make the player region free

Thanks

My BD Samsung P1500 is region 4 and I changed to 9 which is regionless by doing the following;

1.- Turn on the DVD with no disc in it and right after that appears the logo screen and in the top left the "no disc" legend, press eject to open and immediatelly press again to close it. immediatelly after

2.- Press the "repeat" button (the one without the letters A-B printed)followed by pressing 76884, do it again and again and on the third or fouth intent in the top left of your tv screen will appear the number 4, press then the number 9 (if the number 4 appears and you type other number then you must power off and begin from step 1 again)

3.- Press eject to open and then eject again to close, afterwards turn power off.

4.- Power on and insert you disc other than region 4, if the DVD do no read the disc, turn power off and then power on again, this time the disc must be read

If you have already tried this start running now, this is actually the self destruct sequence. You have 10:00, 9:59:59, 9:59:58....you get the idea.

I have purchased a BDP-1500 in December and I have applied the hack back in early January and it works a treat. I mainly did it so I dont have to hook up another dvd player to my system.

I can also confirm this works. I bought a new P1500 a couple of weeks ago and dezoned the dvd part straight away. It took about 20 minutes and lots of "goes" before getting it right.
Then I downloaded the latest firmware last week, and had to go through it all again, but it did work thank goodness. I also have a major collection of dvd's from around the world and definitely want to keep playing them.
Good luck, its worth the fiddling around.

So these models are zoned for normal DVD's as well? I thought it was just Blu-Ray e.g Region B?

Seems silly since normal DVD players have been multi-region for ages!
