hi im backing up my stargate sg1 collection, becouse the disks are starting to get scratched, i used dvd shrink, but would like to convet the vob files to around 350mb avi so i can watch through wmc, any one no of a good converter, plz that will give the power to select output file size

I use Handbrake, it's an excellent open source app that works in Linux, Windows and MacOSX. You have lots of control over the final result, you can set the output quality by desired filesize, bitrate or quality. There's also a bunch of predefined profiles for ripping for different devices (iPhone, PSP etc). The only problem you might have is it can't decrypt the DVDs for you, you'll need to use DVDDecrypter or something like that.

I still use autogk.. works well.. I tried handbrake but didnt have too much success with it..,
