Hi guys im about to install Win7 RC1 on my media PC (duel boot config) and I have been looking through the forum for any issues with getting the EPG to show up and cant find any threads on it. Ill be using a HVR2200 and a PVR150 and want to get Sky and Freeview up and running so I can see if Win7 is going to be worth going to and easier to use duel tuners in. Are there any issues I should know about that you guys have discoverd useing it so far

At present there's no EPG available for us that can be downloaded for Media Center users in NZ, however there is the EIT that shows up automatically. I have a dvb-t and dvb-s card and so at the moment I am using the satellite EIT to give me the week's programing for all three tuners. The only listings available for dvb-t are "now/next".

Until the xml method is sorted, or until Microsoft include MHEG support, you may only have the "now/next" solution with your tuners

I've been able to use this software

http://xmltv2mxf.googlecode.com/files/Guide.rar

to convert an xmltv file into a format that Win 7 media center can upload.

This has been written for Reven's xmlTVNZ software which I haven't used yet.

The problem I'm noticing is that either the conversion software or Media center requires the xmltv file to have all programs for each channels listing in exact time order.

So the xml file from http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/ does not work properly.

I'm having better luck with the xml file from the site http://xmltv.co.nz/ but have just noticed a bug where there is occassional double ups in a program.

For each one it pushes all the programs after it back there by making them at the wrong time, I've reported this bug to the creator.

This works fine for me. Much easier than EIT.

+1 use this for both Freeview and Telstra Digital feeds. Seems fairly solid. Only real issue I have heard of is apparently sometimes recordings appear in the listing with the wrong name but when you go into the details they have the right name. I have not seen this though.

I've been experiencing this for a while now, and it seems to be getting worse and worse. It's becoming a real PITA now, and is applying a negative WAF factor on my set up...

I've let Niall know so hopefully it will be fixed in the next release.

I saw your post.. although seems that he things the problem might be on the xml data side rather then his side.

I was wondering that too, and offered to send him the xml file to look at as I don't really know what I'd be looking for. But he's probably very busy and never took up my offer :)

Any ideas what I could look for?

I just had a look through a copy of the guide file I use (from Haventech) and for one of the shows it does not name correctly, the data in the xml file appears to be ok (although I'm no expert in reading those files).

So this leads me to believe that it is somewhere in the guide import where things fall down.

For DVB-S Freeview you can get the epg though the sat feed. For Sky epg you need to use one of the Web based tools as discussed earlier in the thread. Personally I have disabled the inband (what comes down from the sat) feed and use the web supplied feed for everything. Of course this does mean your media centre needs to have access to the web.

You need to go though and edit the epg sources for each channel. Which software are you using? in BSE the guide includes instructions on assigning the epg data to the channnels.

I was using BSE with the epg file from haventech, ill take the read me to work and print it out so its easier to follow.

To answer this question. Yes it is relatively simple (has to be I use it

) install the tuner, manually scan the freeview freqs (12456 and 12483) in W7MC and then in EPG edit each DVB-T channel and use the 'add the epg from this channel' (the dvb-s channels you found). Job done. It should work for sky as well if required because the epg is not encrypted.
