I'd like to put an xbox in our bedroom as an extender, but does anyone know if it has enough grunt to play back freeview hd recordings from windows 7?

It cannot play HD videos. CPU is not powerful enough.

Do whatever you want to do man.

You'll need an XBox 360 for that, the original Xbox doesn't have enough grunt.

For an old 21" TV you should be able to work around that by recording non-freeview (i.e. analogue) signal, or by converting the recordings to a lower quality format.

I could do that, but I'm lazy and the wife wants it instantly. Easier to just playback the raw recording.
